I was lurking some female hair grow forums today LOL and they all saying that miconazole nitrate ( anti-fungus medication) is a good hair grow booster...Also Shapleys M-T-G a liquid mixture from sulfur for horses... !! formerly made for humans..


Why anti-fungus treatment boost the hair grow? Idea behind this treatment is that the anti-fungal works on the scalp to increase hair growth by killing fungus living on the scalp and potentially slowing hair growth or blocking the follicles???

You can find it in Neosporin AF, Monistat and some foot spray like Desenex 2%.

This is not just a catchy title, it''''s something that''''s been proven to be true. In most cases, the hair on your head can indeed grow faster after using over the counter Fungal cream. The key ingredient in these fungal creams used to treat vaginal yeast infections such as thrush or athletes foots, is Miconazole Nitrate (MN). Common brand names are Monistat or Daktarin. An interesting side effect of MN is a boost in hair growth.
When I first read about this on a hair forum, I was intrigued by the sheer number of women who were raving about receiving growth of more than an inch within 1-2 weeks after massaging MN active creams into their scalps. After some research, I found that the ingredients used in these creams were also present in creams used to treat infant oral thrush.
The only side effect experienced by one in twenty women was mild to severe headaches. This was more prevalent in women who used undiluted 4% MN creams as opposed to women who diluted the cream with water. Most women who used a 2% solution did not report side effects.
Hair on average, grows only half an inch per month on a healthy head of hair. For women to achieve 1-2 inches of growth is decidedly above average.
Curious to test this interesting theory, I purchased two boxes of Daktarin Vaginal Cream at my local pharmacy. Granted, I felt slight discomfort when asking for two boxes, while the lady at the counters face evidently questioned why I needed two boxes when one should suffice. I was ready to justify my purchase, but unfortunately did not need to.
I decided to start on January 9th with plans to use the cream 1-3 times a week for one month. Ladies on the hair forums alternated between using it once a week to every night. Results between the groups were neglible, so I took the mean, one to three times a week.
I measured my head from the mid-front of my hairline, to the longest point of my hair at the back. I measured several times using a normal tape measure, to ensure that my measurements would be accurate. My hair measured at 20â€￾.
Day 1, I applied a small amount of the Daktarin cream onto my finger tips, tipped my head over and massaged it into my scalp. I repeated until my entire scalp was massaged.
For the first week, there was no noticeable growth. In the second week, my hair somehow felt longer and thicker. I put this down to the placebo effect. Strangely though, I was struggling to see through my fringe. My fringe was slightly past eyebrow level, suddenly it was brushing against the bridge of my nose.
As the weeks until the 9th February dragged on, I continued my normal hair routines, but applied the MN religiously one to three times a week dependent on my mood. I also mixed it with Castor Oil in the middle of my trial period as someone had reported easier application.
Barely 3 weeks into my trial, 7 days shy of 9 February, I decided to cheat and measure my hair. At this point it was no longer my imagination, my hair was longer.
Upon measuring the same distance, from my hairline to the longest point of my hair at the back, my hair now measured 21â€￾. I re-measured several times again to ensure an accurate result.
In 3 weeks my unhealthy, damaged hair ,which normally grows at a snails pace had grown an inch. That is double the average rate.I also normally massage my head with oils, including castor oil, so the growth cannot be attributed to this alone.
Based on results of others and more importantly my own trial, I can say that, YES, a vaginal fungal cream can make your hair grow faster.

That's really interesting...how all these anti fungals work well for hair growth.

I also got the 'Daktarin Gold' through the post today which is the same as nizoral.

Daktarin Gold Cream contains:

20 milligrams (mg) of ketoconazole water, propylene glycol, stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, polysorbate 80, isopropyl myristate and sodium sulphite (E221).

It is a really small tube only 15g, but I'm only going to apply at the temples so should last long (my first application today).

I also found the 'Daktarin cream' on the online pharmacy which is 30g and also a bit cheaper...contains Miconazole Nitrate 2%. D'oh! may have to add it to my shopping list.

Did you manage to finish both the boxes? How much did you apply and where?

Do you know of other anti-fungal the have worked well?

There are good shampoos available with Miconazole Nitrate in it.

I am on it since 2 days.. will post results in 2 weeks.. yeah 2 weeks because the results are apparently that fast... Doing that and minoxidil.. I bought a 2% Anti-fungus cream for the feet. No smell no nothing else except for the active ingredient Miconazole Nitrate..

I got the Micatin spray powder version 85g and the Micatin 30g cream ( http://www.micatin.com/ ) Both have 2%. Monistat 3 vag cream! ( http://www.monistat.com/ ) is the strongest on the market with 4%. The cream is good but I like to use the powder then Minoxidil after to dissolve all the left over.

I picked some up tonight to give it a go, thanks for all the great info squeegee. Not the cream but Lotrimin powder spray with Miconazole Nitrate2%.

Interesting to note that Monistat contains both castor oil and edta as well as miconazole nitrate. These women are really onto something. I've been watching the Youtube testimonials about castor oil, emu oil, coconut oil, evoo for hair growht. Lots of other oils are puported to work too.

I've used these oils since December 09 in combination with ketoconazole. I have seen existing growth thicken and grow faster, including vellus. I noticed fewer hairs falling out and they are sometimes thick enough to resemble eyebrow hair.

I basically have grown in my hairline, temples, and crown in the last 3 years. I'm still trying to completely fill in my vertex. I'm going to give miconzole nitrate a try. I also heard anecdotal evidence of ketoconazole cream growing hair. It makes sense, given that even Nizoral shampoo has been shown to grow hair in several studies; it just seems that the cream is more effective than the shampoo.

And I don't think it's just the anti-fungus effect, I suspect there's something else going on too.
