I read a single thread a month ago that damage to the scalp for some reason encourages hair regrowth. Someone was experimenting with this, selectively damaging small areas of the scalp. I couldn't find that thread again..
While I'm 99% sure this wouldn't practically work, it was interesting...
I know it would vary from person to person, but what is sort of average? I started treatment when I was 21... now 22. What I've come to think from reading, is it will most likely work at least 5-7 years, and possibly more.

I've been cutting my own hair for 4 years now, so no prob there... takes some practice, but I'd suggest trying it, unless you don't have a simple style.
I had been applying it basically wherever the hair was thin...so temples
I also applied it all around the hairline, where there is no hair but I hoped to stimulate more growth.
Ah, and Taugenichts, I basically have no problem with acne, I am lucky in this regard. I just get a little if I skip...
I think I noticed some improvement after 3-4 months of minoxidil. At that point I shaved my head. I think improvement has just been very gradual since then.
So I don't think it ever got worse, than it was at the beginning. But it was pretty bad at first...
hehe yeah... I was basically unattractive until 19 because I didn't exercise enough and didn't do much with my appearance. So then I had about 1-2 full years of confidence and then had bad hair loss(fortunately some the hair is coming back, for now).. My time in the sun was extremely limited...

I've definitely made some improvement, hope to keep getting more... I've also learned to style my hair better(which is easier with a little more hair), so I don't really have the appearance of balding. 22 years and 5 months old now.
