    Hormone testing

How many of you have actually had your androgen levels tested? I've been thinking that it's probably a good idea to find out where my T and DHT levels are at. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and what were your results? Saliva tests aren't that expensive and they test the free...

    CBS Evening News tommorow...balding cure

While this is great news, I have one question. With the current hair transplant methods the hairs can be arranged..."pointed" I suppose is a good way of putting it, so that the hair transplant looks natural. With this HM, the cells are injected and a follicle develops, but will the direction of hair growth be sporadic...

    Crayola's Story

Everything seems to have leveled off. No sheds, no real noticeable growth in the past few months. I'm a lot better off than when I started, and it seems to want to stay that way. I feel the key in this whole thing is to catch it early. It's so nice to: 1. Not worry about if people are...

    hairloss + careers

Also, just to add another point; I see so many people on these boards who have to affirm that there are successfull bald people; actors, CEO's, politicians. And sure, that makes you fell better if they do exist, but you can always be the first. I don't know if I'm making any sense, but this is...

Switched from gel to pomade, it's interesting

I bought a can of murray's pomade (the orange can), and found out it was NOT what I wanted to use. I guess its got beeswax in it and it took a week and a half before it washed out completely--and I was using dishwashing liquid and corn starch to get that gunk out. I guess you're supposed to...

    Crayola's Story

well, it's a year on finasteride this month, and (i'm guessing) 5 months on minoxidil (I could look it up, but I'm lazy). I have up days and I have down days, mostly 'up' days though, so I'm stiill happy. You guys know what I'm talking about; one day it looks great, then the next day you think...

On Proscar now..should I start minoxidil or wait longer??

I struggled with the decision of whether to add minoxidil as well. I was on finasteride alone for about 8 months before I decided that it wasn't going to give me the additional growth I wanted. finasteride did improve everything overall very much, but I got greedy and wanted more. I struggled with the decision...

    Are you *REALLY* seeing results?

Once I added minoxidil after being on finasteride for 8 months I noticed new hair after about a month, and now at 2 months it is definetly not my imagination. I used to question the legitimacy of people who would report new hairs after one or two months as well, but some of us may respond better. My...

    Crayola's Story

Well, I suppose I can now attest to the fact that when your treatments are working, you stop coming around here! I suppose it's because I don't think about it anymore...I don't worry if people are looking at my hair--hell, I hope they are!! I bemoaned the addition of minoxidil to my regimen, but...

    Crayola's Story

well, I think the shed has stopped. That wasn't so bad. Now I guess it's time to sit back and wait for results.

    Crayola's Story

yeah, i thought about it, but it really doesn't bother me enough to spend 3 times as much on it. Unless the irritation gets worse I'll probobly just stick with generic.

    Crayola's Story

Well, I broke down and started using kirkland minoxidil 5% about 3 or 3 1/2 weeks ago. The shedding is insane, though not cosmetically noticable. I suppose all those hairs will grow back--the ones I shed when starting finasteride grew back, but that shed was not near as bad. I have been washing my...

If you shed from treatment is there a gurantee you will grow

unfortunately there are no gurantees in this game. I'm going through a minoxidil shed right now (just started minoxidil). It's worse than the one I had on finasteride. I'm pretty positive that it will all grow back though, stronger and better than before.

Discontinuing Propecia After 5 Years - What Will Happen?

I don't really know either; and I don't think anyone knows for sure. It could also be possible that your hair is more sensitive to dht than it was 5 years ago (just the natural progression) and the return to a normal level of dht after quiting propecia will increase loss. but I have no...

A few questions before I commence battle...

You may not even have a shed, and to the extent you might shed is unknown. While some people say they shed so much they can notice a loss of density I did not. I noticed an increase in the shower drain for a couple months and then it stopped. It didn't worry or bother me at all. But if you...
