It has to reach the scalp, harder with longer hair to make sure it gets in their. Also shedding may be more noticeable with longer hair. But I mean so many varying stories, imo just gotta apply it properly, consistently, and give it time and see how it works for you.

You need to take better pics. Those show little besides a possible receeding hairline. But that doesn't mean it'll lead to male pattern baldness. Take overhead shots, profile, under lighting. Unstyled too. If you want to get the best advice here.
