so you're suffering youself? if that's the case, i'd just bring it up about yourself. if it was just the two of you somewhere and you managed to bring up the topic of your own hair probblems it could turn to a situation where he goes "yeah, i've noticed my hair thinning out as well" or...

hi there... long story.... i noticed my hair thinning at around age 20... having just turned 20 actually. never thought it'd be a problem as my dad has only mild recession at 50 y.o. (pretty much the same from his mid 30s)... his side of family has 7 brothers all with even less hairloss...
