After much researching and consulting w/ several Drs I chose Dr. Ron Shapiro to do my hair transplant. I had the procedure on March 06, 2008 and it was a great experience. The entire staff provided excellent service to me. I was never in any pain or discomfort. The whole thing went very smoothly.
My...
Would it be better to travel by car or plane after a hair transplant? Don't factor the cost of driving vs. flying.
Driving yourself would be more private, but may not be as relaxing as flying. But if you fly you would probably want/need to wear a hat or something to hide the "work". But this would...
Okay, I've posted about several other Drs, but I've narrowed my search (for the right DR for me) down to Dr. Jerry Cooley in NC and Dr. Ron Shapiro in MN.
I know, it's my decesion, plus there are other great DRs too. But looking for any last feedback on these DRs?
I have took Proscar for over 10 years. I still seem to be thinning on the front hairline. A hair DR told me I should take Avodart, as well as Proscar. That there are 2 causes of DHT and Proscar works on "cause 1" , but not " #2". And Avodart will work on "cause 2", but not "cause 1". Since...
nothing on the packaging, it was Dr. Griffin that said 2% zinc would help. Or it might had been his assistant. I talked with both of them for 2 hours, so may not recall which one actually said it. They gave me a trial size bottle of DHS (2 oz) to try.
Jason, I assume you would recommend Shapiro , too, right? Since I am considering strip, that makes him a possibility too. Is it two brothers? Is one better than the other?
The brand name I found at CVS was called DHS. It said on the bottle it had 2% zinc. I have used it for 2 weeks and have really liked it. It was located where the dandruff shampoos were, like Nizoril. I saw other shampoos too, some were labeled they had 1% zinc. But the DR said to get 2%...
What did Dr Woods recommend? Unfortunely most meds don't work that well for temples and front hairline. Proscar/Fisternicide and Avodart and Rogaine would be worth taking, they should help some.
I saw Dr Griffin and he recommend a shampoo with 2% Zinc. Said it helps remove DHT from the hair. I found a shampoo at CVS called DHS.. I really like it. My hair actually looks thicker.
I recently consulted with Dr Edmond Griffin in Atlanta and Dr Dan Hale from Knoxville, TN. Both were impressive. Does anyone have any input on either of these guys?
I've consulted with 4 DRs and they all advise that if I wanted only the temples that I should also let them go into the adjacent hairline to stregthen it up to. And most send that to get good density in the "virgin" area that either a 2nd pass or dense packing would be required.
Maybe this guy...
I am 43 yo, Norwood 2 with thinning front. Still decent amount of hair in the front, but thin enough for "see thru". I have seen several DRs, couple say to just place 600 grafts at the front of the hairline so the hair at the very front will be thicker and help block the see thru. The others...
I've had another consultation with another DR. This Dr doesn't think doing the temples will help much. he also doesn't think just adding later to the front hairline will do what I want. I want to overcome the "see thru" in the front. He's advice is to do 2000 grafts all over the front/top...
If all goes well I would go back for a 2nd procedure in 8 to 12 months, and it would be a larger procedure. I am fortunate that for now the DRs I have consulted with all think 800 to 1000 grafts would all I need for now.
It seems like every DR you read good things about on all of these forums...
