I am coming to the conclusion that minoxidil indeed does have a cardiovascular effect. During training I notice that I do feel a sensation in my chest and that my heart does seem to behave "differently"; for some weeks I have looked for other explanations (such as cold weather making it harder to...
Yes, in fact my bottle of Rogaine states that "using it more often" will give better results! That's simply a dangerous claim to put on a bottle of minoxidil.... I wouldn't be surprised if people would be overdosing themselves because of that statement.
Yes, the main study on minoxidil is found was indeed done by Upjohn-- a commercial testing center. Still, with this drug being on the market for more than 2 decades, you'd expect a significant amount of horror stories if it indeed would mess up your heart?
And, aren't there are other independent...
I have been wondering the same, as far as I know the only study that looked into minoxidil's effect on the heart is:
Br J Clin Pharmacol. 1988 Oct;26(4):481-5.
"Topical minoxidil: cardiac effects in bald man." Leenen FH, Smith DL, Unger WP.
Department of Medicine, Toronto Western Hospital, Ontario...
Still, it troubles me that I cannot find any research follow up on the recommendation of the study I cited (that further research is needed regarding long-term safety). To me it just seems as an assumption that LV will not increase after 1 year usage.... and LV mass is_kind_of a critical factor...
As far as I understand this article about ORAL minoxidil, minoxidil does not seem to effect LV mass in this 6 month study:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2959236
@Bryan: Hmmm, it is indeed troublesome! All other studies I could find mention that Minoxidil has no systematic side effects, but I tend to believe this was one of the few studies that did in-depth research regarding minoxidil's effect on one's heart. Right now I am seriously considering to drop...
@Bryan: I am from the Netherlands, why?
Are there relevant studies available that asses the long-term safety of minoxidil, respecially regarding the health of one's heart.
In addition, I am aware that minoxidil does not stop the underlying cause of MBP. Therefore I will be adding ASC-J9 to my regime...
First of all, my compliments for this website and usefull forum. I am glad with the knowledge I got form this forum and after about 1,5 years of only loosing the hairloss-battle, I feel that I am finally winning ground again by using 5% minoxidil. My crown area is finally looking much better...
I used finasteride for a little more than one week and didn't experience any side effects quitting cold turkey. I believe if you dón't suffer from any serious side effects you are unlikely to get them if you quit cold turkey.
The reason I quit was that the thought of supressing a horman in my...
Based on my understanding of topical finasteride, I'd say it's only effective through systematic absorption. So I guess this applies for topical duta as well..... therefore you might as well take it orally. But then again, I am no doctor.
To all athletes on this form!
I am an endurance athlete (cycling) competiting at a national level. I am also a hairloss sufferer and do want do something about it as it depresses me.
I struggle with finding a good treatment for my hairloss as I also would like to be as fit and fast as...
I had a massive outbreak of acne as well after one week finasteride. From 16-18 I suffered from quite some acne but after the age of 18 it all cleared up. After one week of finasteride I noticed that I suddenly had several outbreaks which I tend to relate to my finasteride in take as nothing else changed in my...
