Antidepressants: Good Or Bad? Any Impact On Hair?

I suspect I've had mild depression for a while but was able to function ok. Since having hair loss for the past 2.5 years, I've become even more depressed. I feel really down on myself and feel like crying all the time for no reason. I don't have much motivation and I constantly have to force...

Pioneering Ru58841 Use For The Use Of Female Androgenetic Alopecia

Hey Georgie, Did you ever consider oral spironolactone? Just curious since it’s the anti androgen recommended for women. Let me know what made you decide not to try it.

    Heralopecia.com 'down For Maintenance'?

It’s been “down for maintenance” for weeks. At this point who knows if it will even come back up :(

Wig Help Advice. New To Wigs For Hair Loss

If you want something that looks real, look into human hair wigs. They are expensive but probably look less fake than synthetic. Follea is the rolls Royce of wigs. It’s very fine European human hair. You can also look into toppers. I’m personally interested in the Uniwig Claire topper. It’s...

Finally Decided On spironolactone, Now Need Help On Dosage

I have Androgenetic Alopecia. It started after I went off the birth control pill. Basically my hair started shedding like crazy (Telogen Effluvium) but never stopped. After 10 months, I went to see a hairloss specialist and he said I had early onset of Androgenetic Alopecia from the Telogen Effluvium. I got on Rogaine and have been on for a year. The shedding...

Finally Decided On spironolactone, Now Need Help On Dosage

I'm sorry to hear that it stopped working for you. I'm 38 so I hope that it will work for me still. Do you remember if you gradually got to this dose or did you start at 200 mg and did you have a dread shed?

Finally Decided On spironolactone, Now Need Help On Dosage

After agonizing for a really long time on whether I should try spironolactone or not, I finally decided that I would. I'm seeing my endocrinologist on Monday and will ask him for a prescription. I've been really depressed about my hair loss, especially going through another round of shedding...

Treatment Of Choice For Women? Need Advice

I'm researching my option for anti-androgens (I'm female, hair loss/Androgenetic Alopecia started 2 years ago after a Telogen Effluvium). So far I've heard that spironolactone was the recommended treatment for women but I just read an article that said that finasteride was actually pretty effective for women as well. Does anyone...

Seasonal Sheds On Rogaine Normal Or Not?

That sucks! I never experienced seasonal shedding before my hair loss started. I'm still shedding right now. The thing with women is that we get hit harder because it takes more than a few months to get long hair again. :(

Seasonal Sheds On Rogaine Normal Or Not?

For those of you who are ONLY on Rogaine, do you experience seasonal sheds? I've been using Rogaine foam for a year and it had significantly reduced my shedding. But now for the past month I've been shedding again and I'm back to my initial Telogen Effluvium level shedding. It's pretty devastating. Do you guys...

8.5 Years Of Battling Hair Loss (with Recent Pictures)

Your hair looks great! i wouldn't have guessed in a million years that you had hair loss. It looks thick and healthy. Was just wondering why you picked Finasteride over spironolactone which is the treatment of choice for women. I've been battling hair loss for 2 years, after a Telogen Effluvium from stopping the birth...

Any Positive Reviews On Topical Spironolactone?

Has anyone had success using topical spironolactone? I was considering starting the oral one but reading all the negative reviews about side effects (especially the ones about weight gain that doesn't come off even after stopping) I am not sure I still want to do that. Maybe topical would work...

Would You Go On Oral spironolactone If You Were A Woman?

My total testosterone is on the high side of the range but my free testosterone is normal probably because I'm on the BCP. But no one checks that when spironolactone is prescribed. I've been hypo for over 10 years so I'm not new to it and never had issues with my hair until I went off bcp.

Would You Go On Oral spironolactone If You Were A Woman?

Wow! This sucks... and actually sounds very scary. Other than my thyroid, for which i am being treated, I am perfectly healthy so it sucks to think about having to take a drug that could potentially alter how your adrenals work?!! What are you on now?

Would You Go On Oral spironolactone If You Were A Woman?

Like you I would start gradually and definitely would do so under my endocrinologist's supervision. I'm 5'6, 135lbs and my BP is usually 120/70 so my concern would be that it would give me too low BP. Did you have good regrowth on it??
