    Exploring The Hormonal Route. Hair=life.

Well, asking because with topical dutasteride 0.2 mg/day and topical estriol used at 20 mg/day for several months and now at 5 mg/day, got regrowth, mainly in the mid area, but front is better than 12 months on oral finasteride , mid is definitely a different world , so more than maintainance...

@Experimentality how is going with topical E2 microdosing? Thanks!

Taking Estradiol/Estriol to raise E2 without feminising properties - possible?

1-2 mg is not a small E2 dose. By assuming 10 to 20% of systemic delivery, with 1-2 mg, the range of the amount delivered would be 100 to 400 mcg/day, vs the 40-50 mcg produced daily by a male. A small dose is few mcg order of magnitude.

I will test probably 5 mcg E2, whole scalp, that targets 200 nanoM at assumed 30 % dermal delivery. By assuming 20% systemic delivery it can't be a problem. The test is still based on in vitro effect on DP cells. I have still a doubt about the target concentration, as under HRT with estradiol...

    Exploring The Hormonal Route. Hair=life.

Unfortunately there is only the abstract available of the article that tested balding scalp derived DP cells, but it seems, with the limit of the in vitro model, the cells response break point happen at a lower concentration: >36 nM, so maybe 2X , so 72 nM? The full text study says cell...

    Exploring The Hormonal Route. Hair=life.

Here an old study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8326159/ In the study (also) estradiol effect was tested on hair cell lines, within a concentration range. For DP cells the minimum concentration causing increased cell growth was 180 nM (about 50 ug/l). Concentration above 1.8 uM (3.6 uM)...

    Exploring The Hormonal Route. Hair=life.

In my post I said there are no data of estradiol effect at microM concentration in vitro, so mentioned the closest possible study testing a dose response from nanoM to microM. MicroM estradiol doesn't happen in nature on hair follicle, but can happen by putting at 0.05% topical on the scalp. If...

    Exploring The Hormonal Route. Hair=life.

High local concentration of beta-estradiol might actually hurt, as in vitro estradiol optimal working range is in the nanomolar range (often tested in vitro at 10 nanoM and not more than 100 nanoM). A 0.05%, 2 ml, full head topical is going to deliver estradiol at dermis in the order of 10...

Anti-androgenetic alopecia effect of policosanol from Chinese wax by regulating abnormal hormone levels to suppress premature hair follicle entry into

A friend of mine is thinking about testing policosanols. 80% ethanol was in the reference vehicle and I guess the study opted for high % of ethanol because these are long chain alcohols. Was the solution clear when you used the reference vehicle? I'm wondering if a different vehicle made by...

Anti-androgenetic alopecia effect of policosanol from Chinese wax by regulating abnormal hormone levels to suppress premature hair follicle entry into

Thank you. So basically they seemed "doing the job", but with no apparent advantage vs finasteride/dutasteride, but I assumed you have quickly stopped using them because of sides, correct? As you wrote some time ago, I was hoping on a detoxification mechanism by conversion to fatty acid and...

    Topical Dutasteride Case Assessment Thread

I think modified chitosan is an interesting polymer, as it's positively charged so it's good for binding on the skin. Polichem with finasteride gel achieved the best scalp DHT decrease ever published, by using hydroxypropyl chitosan. The hydroxypropyl doesn't seem ready available by googling...

    How to make minoxidil work(Arylsulfatase-inhibitors)

I think the angle of this thread is different: microneedling and tretinoin are supposed to increase the level of sulfotransferase, but we are discussing what the authors say, so that a different way of increasing potentially the effect of minoxidil could by the inhibition of sulfatases, so the...
