A couple of things occur to me here, one is that 30 compounds is a lot of compounds compared to 1 compound, but it's essentially nothing compared to the galaxy of known/potential compounds. I mean to say the things they've tried must be far from a blind stab in the dark, their choice will surely...
Indeed but aren't most mouse studies just applying some chemical to inhibit or trigger this or that, and finding it makes mouse follicles grow better, and then hoping it'll work on human follicles too? This is human cells, full human follicles, already being successfully grown in a substrate...
Well it's not EVERYTHING to prove, he's apparently proven that if he puts two kinds of human cells together they'll generate a full working follicle, and that he can multiply these cells through enough generations to make this a viable treatment, and that he can even control the hair shaft...
The 15 year old who gets on dutasteride will never know whether his penis could've been bigger. I'd wait until that age at a minimum. Especially when it appears that a 15 year old will see a proper solution to this while he's still young.
Obviously the history of hair loss treatments is grim but of all the teams working on this problem, this one looks like the least-deserving of pessimism to me. If I'm not mistaken he has shown human cells packaged together and implanted in mouse skin will generate a fully-working hair follicle...
Just the name "Brotzu lotion" reeks of snake-oil bullshit to me. I've never even bothered to find out what's supposed to be in it, just waited for the inevitable.
Ugh, f*** this then. The daily hassle is why I haven't even bothered with minoxidil. Looks like the contenders are Tsuji and Replicel/Shiseido now as far as I'm concerned, and I have little expectation for the latter.
