Thanks all some good information. I know the depression side effect can be hard to quantify properly but can anyone point out some studies/trials that have been done linking depression to finasteride?
Hi all
I’m 27 and I’ve been experiencing shedding for almost a year now. Hairline fairly OK still but crown definitely thinning. So I think it’s time to give finasteride a go.
The only potential side effect that worries me is the link to depression, I couldn’t find much information on studies...
I really don’t believe in the whole ‘baldness is from mother’s side’ statement that I see so often.
Pretty much every guy I know that has his hair, I see that their fathers also have great hair.
What do people think?
Cheers guys.
My aim is to get a private prescription from my GP. Let’s see how it goes.
The only side effect that worries me about finasteride is reports of depression and suicidal thoughts.
My dad rapidly started going bald in 40s and 50s. He is now fully bald.
I never got to see my mum’s dad, but my mum told me he went bald too.
I’m 26 and my crown has started to thin. I am weighing up my options.
Is it 99% likely I will go completely bald?
I think definitely if you are genetically prone, then heavy prolonged stress/trauma could accelerate onset of male pattern baldness.
I could be wrong though but I know of two men where that was the case.
All,
I’m 26 and my crown has been losing density for a year now. I have compared it to older photos from 2013-2017 and there is a definite change. At the moment I wake up with around 2 hairs on the pillows in the morning and when shampooing my hair I lose around 20 hairs.
I’m contemplating...
Has it always been like that? Or is this a recent thing?
I’m in the same boat, almost identical to you. I’ve come to the conclusion that my balding process has started.
