For me it would be hard to believe that the galea doesn't play a huge part in baldness given the fact that both male and female pattern baldness occur directly above the galea.
Some sort of combination of DHT/galea tension would definitely make the most sense IMO.
Negative, no noticeable shedding at any point. Not sure how much that has to do with the small dosage (and the first 6 months being EOD).
I wanted to be sure to keep updating this to show people that .25mg can be effective for maintaining and slight thickening. There's too many people on...
I'm 29, I started to notice my hair loss around 2 years ago at 27. But in reality it had probably started to go around 24-25ish. You just don't notice until there's a big density difference. So maybe not SUPER aggressive but I also wouldn't categorize losing hair in your mid 20's as mild...
I've been on .25mg a day for 15 months now. Maintained in all areas and thickened up slightly on my crown. Different doses work differently on everybody.
I use Ginger scalp care by The Body Shop. Unfortunately it doesn't say how much Piroctone Olamine it actually contains.
No regrowth on my temples, just very minor thickening if anything. But my temples haven't recessed very far beyond my mature hairline, my mature hairline always had...
1 year update:
Been on .25mg every day since mid July of 2015. Definite maintenance. Not a whole lot more. But that's win for such a small dose.
Still alternating Nizoral and Piroctone Olamine every day. Not sure how much they're helping but they're certainly not hurting so I'll keep it...
Yes I was on .25mg every other day for 6 and 1/2 months. No significant regrowth or thickening but I maintained fine. No sides after the 1st 3 weeks.
I moved up to .25mg every day and that's where I'm at now.
.25 EOD is unlikely going to help much in terms of improvement but I think it...
Right that's why I mentioned the mental aspect. The nocebo effect seems to be quite common with finasteride due to reading about all the "scary" sexual sides before starting.
But I'm also assuming a 7-8% difference difference in DHT inhibition has to do SOMETHING in terms of lessening sides...
Start off super slow if you're worried. Maybe .25 mg every 3rd day or something. Then after a couple weeks or however long until you're comfortable move it to every other day. And just keep slowly progressing in small increments. Helps a lot with the mental aspect of sides.
I started off...
Agreed, it's completely dependent on the individual. Just blindly saying that .25mg won't be enough is false. Look at this study comparing .2mg vs 1mg:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?uid=15319158&cmd=showdetailview&indexed=google
While it's fairly vague and doesn't tell us the extend of...
Depends on the person. The only major study with a similar dose (.2mg) showed it being very effective at maintaining hair.
I've been on .25 mg since January of this year. Actually I was on .25 EOD for the first 6 and 1/2 months and maintained fine. I upped it to .25 every day just to see...
They fabricated a small independent Nizoral study just to fool us into thinking 1% is more effective lol??
Can't tell if serious...
Anyway I certainly don't think 1% is more effective than 2%. I just don't think there's much of a difference from 1 to 2%.
The sad truth is that 99.9% of people...
Lol? They're clearly different studies man. All the numbers are different, not just hair shaft diameter. The date is different. Piroctone Olamine was not included. I'm not sure why you think they're the same study?
In this study 1% was simply more effective than similar 2% studies.
http://www.hairlosshelp.com/html/nizoral1study.cfm
That study actually shows 1% being slightly MORE effective than 2%.
I seriously doubt there's going to be a huge difference between 1 and 2%. All the studies we have available show them being similarly effective.
