Hello,
I have been taking finasteride for 1 year. Pic 1 and 2 were taken 1 year ago, pic 3 and 4 were taken this month. I still lose a lot of hair every day, but has the hairline or the overall density of my hair changed? Do you think finasteride works on me?
Thanks!

Don't panic. Read the research articles and you will discover that side effects are reversible. Usually in a research involving thousands of patients, no one experience permanent side effects.
I was talking about permanent sides after stopping the drug. There are rumors that they do exist, but judging from research data, the possibility is extremely low, if they really exist.
A few percentage of patients have sides. Some of them discontinue the medication so I think their sides are...
It is very likely that the cause of permanent side effect is not finasteride itself, but something else, like aging or nocebo effect, because the possibility is so low.

Haha, I happen to be browsing this website now, so I can reply in a minute. There are people who experience ED after taking finasteride, but their side effect disappears after stopping the medication.
You may have read about people who experience permanent ED, but if read the research articles...
Age 24, norwood 2. My balding progress is definitely slower than my father's.
The performance of finasteride in the 1st year is a good indicator for its performance in the next 10 years. If you have improvement in the 1st year, your chance of keeping what you have for the next 10 years is 95%+...
The progress of male pattern balding is very slow. It typically takes more than 10 years to become completely bald.
With finasteride+minoxidil you have a high chance of regrowth. I read in a meta-analysis article that this combination would give you 95% chance of some regrowth.

Dont worry, finasteride works for 90% people for at least 10 years. It is very likely to work forever. Dutasteride is stronger than finasteride so I guess it can also work for many years for you.
My father was also very bald in his twenties... I wish you and myself good luck.
Finasteride is very important. It is the most effective FDA approved medicine for hair loss. Dermastamping may also help, but there is much less evidence.
Castor oil alone is very likely not to work. Ask a dermatologist to make sure you can use finasteride+minoxidil.
