    Countering high estrogen

I switched to dutasteride/avodart about 3 months ago after being on propecia for many years. I gradually transitioned, eventually taking 0.5MG avodart every other day. My latest blood test shows serum DHT slightly lower than before, T within the normal range maybe even slightly higher, but my Estrogens...

    seeing a doctor?

My experience with seeing doctors and experts regarding this subject: Tricologists: usually quacks who try to sell lotions, light therapy, and laser combs; very few who are useful GPs: believe that 'stress' causes male pattern baldness or have no clue about hair loss or DHT Dermatologists: if knowledgeable...

    avodart/dutasteride prescription from doctors

Update.... I've now had a prescription (a real one) and gotten my generic dutasteride from a local pharmacy. I didn't do a completely hard switch, but have been replacing my finasteride every 3rd day for dutasteride (while still taking finasteride the other days) for the past month. I did this because i heard it may take a...

How exactly does something like this happen?

I would give it a year and see if I were you. I'm at a point finasteride just doesn't help anymore, but I'm very sure if I wasn't on it I'd still be losing more faster. Supposedly shedding can be a good sign for regrowth. Maybe add minoxidil if you got nothing to lose. [ just my opinion, not a doctor or...

    dutasteride regrowth time

Have you noticed any results from setipiprant/kyth-105? I'm skeptical about this, but curious. Never knew anyone took it orally.

itching like crazy while transitioning to dutasteride....Is all itching a bad sign?

So after many (5+) years of finasteride/propecia which worked for a while, I was starting to really lose ground fast and didn't want to do nothing while I diffuse away and wonder if I could have done more. I'm transitioning to dutasteride. So far starting by adding 0.5 dutasteride about 2x week in...

If you get sides on finasteride, will you 100% get sides on dutasteride?

Isn't the T "boost" often reported simply a matter of more T because it's not being converted to the more potent DHT? In other words, dutasteride reduces more DHT on average which leads to more unconverted T which would otherwise been DHT. Maybe I'm wrong here?

    Stress while on finasteride?

From everything I've read, it's possible that stress can potentially accelerate male pattern baldness, if it causes hair to cycle more often. However, it still seems up to debate. Clearly "stress" is not the cause of male pattern baldness since there are plenty of way stressed out guys with full heads of hair. Some people that go...

just got dutasteride/avodart, best way for making the switch?

I've been on finasteride for nearly 7 years, 1mg daily. It worked well for a while but in the past year I've lost ground, shedding increased all the time, and really starting to thin out. My serum DHT levels are the same from when I started finasteride, definitely not near zero but certainly finasteride/propecia is...

    Doctor unwilling to prescribe finestaride.

What kind of doctor did you go to? If a GP/primary care you might have more trouble, I mean some of them know absolutely nothing about MPHL. A good dermatologist should be knowledgeable and willing to prescribe. Otherwise there are hair transplant surgeons but be weary which on you go- some of...

    avodart/dutasteride prescription from doctors

I have and the 2 doctors for IAHRS in my area won't give me a straight answer. My derm won't give avodart either. Any place you guys get avodart from that is real and legit?

Do you wish you would have started earlier?

Yes, I first noticed crown starting to slightly thin at 23 in my case and it may have been starting slowly before then. I started propecia about 3 years later. I don't think I would have hopped on propecia at 18 or anything but I do wish I started 2+ years prior.

Adding finasteride to my regimen a good idea?

I second all these other replies, yes. minoxidil can help maintain or regrow/thicken but alone from all the research I've seen it's just not anywhere near effective as anti-andorgens like propecia and avodart. It doesn't really help the 'root' cause to alleviate hair loss alone. If you are okay...

Propecia - not everyone is having side effect?

Personally I think sides are overblown although they are possible. I've been on 7+ yrs with no issues taking the normal dose daily. If I was having adverse affects somehow I clearly don't even notice them. Remember not only do many doctors prescribe propecia like anything else but there are...

Why don't many men consider hair transplants?

Even if I had all the money in the world, there are limitations today to hair transplants with the fact it relies on the donor hair from the sides and back. Especially with certain hair types, it can be difficult to provide someone who is (or destined) for NW7 to end up with a full looking head...
