Well this was humbling. I went to see a new dermatologist last week and took some progress photos under different lighting. I didn’t realize how bad my recession was.
He increased my minoxidil from 1.25mg/day to 2.5mg/day. I’m not optimistic that it will make that much of a difference. I need...
It seems like a lot of people have success with it. I'm just trying to keep my options open before going the hair transplant route.
Also got a haircut - still concerned about the temples. I'm going to start back the dermapen and nizoral. Would using topical minoxidil in addition to the oral route make a...
I’ve been on oral minoxidil for over 6 months now and was pleased with the results but recently saw a candid photo of myself from the side which made me look like I was starting to recede/thin. Curious what you all think.
I’ve been on oral minoxidil for a little over three months now and have been pleased with the results and lack of side effects (as far as I can tell). I was using topical minoxidil until my supply ran out. So my regimen is now finasteride (1mg) and minoxidil (2.5mg) once a day.
I’m considering asking my dermatologist for an oral minoxidil prescription. I’m a little hesitant given its reputation, but I’ve been on finasteride for years without issue (totally different medication, I know, but it has its own scary side effects).
I’m a long-distance runner and have a very low...
Update: I’m considering asking my dermatologist for an oral minoxidil prescription. I feel like I’m still receding even with my oral finasteride/topical minoxidil routine. I’m a little worried about the sides, but I’ve had none with finasteride (totally different medication, I know). Has anyone had success with...
Thanks - fortunately I haven’t had any sides, so I’ll continue using it along with minoxidil and the dermapen. I’m just concerned about my temples. The hairs seem much thinner than the others along my hairline.
Progress update - I’m still a little concerned about the temple area but it doesn’t seem to getting significantly worse. Hoping the dermapen is helping.
Progress update (just got a haircut so it’s a little shorter than usual). I feel like I’m in ok shape, but I’m still worried about the temples. Still no issues with finasteride.
No, nothing noticeable. Not even when I first started. Typically only people with negative reactions to a medication are going to write about their experience online — it’s the vocal minority.
