5 weeks isn’t enough to see much of anything, let alone the full results. This is especially when you’re not using minoxidil at therapeutic levels...

minoxidil needs to be applied twice a day to hit that threshold. Anything less than that is pointless, except in the case of anecdotal unicorns. I would be concerned, given your scalp inflammation, that you may not be able to tolerate it, but there’s only one way to find out...

Not time to shave yet, but you need to use what time you have to figure out how much your hair is worth to you. minoxidil offers, at best, cosmetic relief from the blading process but doesn’t do anything to slow it down or stop it. The only way to do that is finasteride/dutasteride both of which come with a lifetime commitment and a long list of possible and probable side effects. Only you can decide whether or not the risks are worth it for a chance at holding on to what hair you have left.

Yeah, I think you should wait longer... Have you tried Propecia, by the way? I think it is a good option too, maybe you will find it helpful and interesting to you too, think about it. Also, talk to a doctor

Thanks for the replys guys. I have eczema on my scalp so minoxidil twice a day isnt it for me. I will start using 0.5 mg finasteride and see what will happen.

Hi guys,

Been some time since I updated on here. Upon your responds I changed my regimen to 0.25 mg finasteride, minoxidil once a day and microneedling 1mm once a week. Also washing my hair a bit more often because of the dandruff and itching.

Chose to start with 0.25 mg finasteride after I saw some studies that show there isnt a big difference in efficiency between 1 mg and 0.25. I may up it to 0.5 mg in a couple months.

I tried applying minoxidil twice a day but I hate how greasy it gets and my skin doesnt really like it either.

Microneelding 1mm since beginning. I think i may start adding more sessions with lower depth to increase absorbtion minoxidil.

In my first post I said im losing a lot of daily. After a month of finasteride im starting to lose less hairs every week.

My crown still doesnt look pretty but I feel like the hairs that fell out in first months start to come in a bit thicker but only a little bit. My temples have seen a bit of regrowth. I see a lot of vellus hair coming up on places that I thought were bald. So something is working.

Im hoping that the daily hairs that fall out will continue getting less. My first goal is maintaining what I have right now and I feel like it is kinda going that direction.

You need finasteride otherwise you'll turn into the new Bruce Willis sorry to say.

0.25mg a day sounds good.
