I am 17 and this started when I was 16 about 10 months ago. I want to know if this is stress induced or male pattern baldness since I'm not losing any hair on the sides, just the top and I have the bald spot on the temple. I usually style my hair so when it's up you can see my scalp. Someone please help this sucks being only 17. I'm in good shape I eat good and I take protein supplements for weight training.

Is not true, Telogen Effluvium is diffuse all over the head.

Why am I not following a pattern then? I only have the bald spot on one side of my scalp. The other side is perfectly fine but thin like the rest of the top of my head

Could be diffuse thinning or Telogen Effluvium, pics are not the best quality go see a derm to confirm for you. That does seem pretty severe for 17 if it is truly male pattern baldness so i would probably say its Telogen Effluvium. Do you have a family history of hair loss? Is your dad bald? These questions need to be addressed first!

The only person that's bald in my entire family is my dad but he started balding at 52 and he's only bald towards the back of his head

This was the right side of my hairline a year ago. The hair loss started late last summer. I've lost 50% of my hair since then. But only on the top and the right side looks nothing like it did in this picture.

This is what the right side looks like now. I am going to say that there were a lot of drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, and partying. Plus it was my senior year and I had all the extra stress from school.

It doesn't make sense to me, why would it thin in that direction?

But the picture with top of your head is most worrying

What I'm most confused about is how it happened so fast and severe. I was abusing most of the drugs, mainly vyvanse, adderral, and xanax. I had a horrible appetite and just a couple weeks ago I started lifting again and changed my diet completely, no more drugs or alcohol. I'm going to see if anything changes within the next few weeks.

It's a horrible feeling to go from having the best hair to having the worst. Whether it be from drugs or not. Especially being 17.

Could you clarify this?
Since I was always taking vyvanse abusivly, it made me not want to eat or drink anything and i wouldn't almost every single day. Then I would drink a lot of alcohol on top of that during the weekends.
