18, Male Pattern Baldness Or Thin Hair?

Ever since I have had a head of hair my hair has been quite fine and I’ve always had a large forehead due to a hairline that has always resembled somewhat of a Norwood 2 (like my father and grandfather in my mother’s side). While nothing about my hair has seemed out of the ordinary or very different in the past few years, I have grown more concerned about my risk of male pattern baldness. Although neither my father or any grandfathers of mine have ever been bald, both uncles on my mother’s side became bald around their 30’s. As seen in the photos below the hair along the side of my head (mainly temporal point) is quite thin yet I can’t identify any loss of hair from areas where there was previously. Every day I will notice some individual strands leave my hair but never excessively or in clumps. Is this male pattern baldness in its early stages or naturally thin or fine hair? I have attached some photos of my hair in its natural form, my hairline specifically. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Could be a mature hairline developing. It won't necessarily go full into baldness.

Hair is falling out on all of us all the time. Those are the telogen hairs dropping out so they will grow back. Hairs follicles on your head are all at different stages of the lifecycle. Some are anagen, others are catagen and the rest are telogen.

Keep monitoring your hair by regularly taking photos and videos of you walking around with your head down in a number of different lighting settings. If you are that concerned, get on finasteride and minoxidil.

I agree with retnoid, just keep an eye on it. If it progresses then jump on finasteride.
