1mg propecia or 5mg proscar? and where to buy in the uk?

hi all. haven't been on the site in a while. was there not a section about where was best or cheapest to buy products? Anyways, there are alot of dodgy people on the net, and so i was wondering where people in the UK get their propecia from cheapest. I used qhi before and they seemed fine, but was concerned to see a post about them that was not encouraging. Also is it worth me buying the 1mg tablets so i know i am getting the exact right dosage everyday or shall i stick to the 5mg proscar tablets which i had before but found it difficult to cut into fives, and so often cut into four, and then skipped a day? or was that foolish?

If your worried about price go for the 5mg and just cut in up into fours, not a big deal. If not go for the 1mg. Wont make a difference to your hair....

I've used them for about 5 years and never had any problems at all, in fact they are always very helpful. I got both proscar and avodart from them, and their prices are cheap.

yes, sorry ive just read the post again and he said he sent a cheque and it could have got lost in the post. i think i will go with them as they are very cheap!

I believe QHI only do Proscar and its Cipla equivalent. I have just ordered some Propecia from http://www.inhousepharmacy.co.uk/ .

Somebody posted on here the other day who seemed to be having success with 1/4 Proscar every other day. It is definitely the cheapest way to go. I've gone with Propecia first to see if I get any bad sides and then will most likely get Proscar.

BTW, be careful with this casual increase to 1.25mg. People seem to forget that this is 25% more than prescription recommends. I am sure most people don't notice a difference, but if you have sides consider taking less....

I know I felt a lower libido for the one time I took 1.25mg on an every other day regime. I stopped, and immediately went back to .625mg/day.

Why would I be kidding? I think reasonable daily doses of finasteride could range over 2 orders of magnitude, from as little as 0.2 mg/day to 20 mg/day or more. I think anything within that range is fair game. To worry about going from 1 mg to 1.25 mg is completely ridiculous, IMHO.

If you feel comfortable using that amount, GREAT -- heck if you have no sides, more power to you. But don't imply that such a difference isnt significant. Now you are correct that a single dose different is likely not a big deal, though I think 5mg might have an impact on a persons chemisty. Personally, I believe one should take the bare minimum of a drug you can.

i ordered dr. reddy's finast. they are small white pills that have finasteride on the back. Anybody else use these?

But I DON'T think it's significant. Not the least little bit! :wink: And I bet you'd agree with me, if you were to read more of the available literature on finasteride. Human subjects took 50 mg/day of finasteride for several months at a time in early testing of the drug, with no ill effects. Single doses as high as 400 mg (no, that's not a typo!) were also taken, again with no problems. Stumptailed macaques received daily doses of 1 mg/kg/day of finasteride in their male pattern baldness trials, again with no problems. Because I personally weigh about 100 kg, that would be the equivalent of my taking 100 mg/day of finasteride day-in and day-out, continuously! And YOU are worried about increasing from 1 mg to 1.25 mg??

I don't understand what you mean by "a single dose different". By the way, ANY DOSE AT ALL that affects balding will have an "impact" on a person's chemistry. That goes without saying.
