I started losing hair at my temples at the age of 18 and now I am 20 and it's gotten worse. I was planning on doing a transplant but after they told me there would be a huge scar at the back of my head, I had to look at other options. The doctor recommended propecia so I just started using it for 4 days now. Is there any other suggestions or should I just go bald.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Propecia and Rogain along with Nizoral shampoo are (currently) our only FDA approved hopes for stopping hairloss and helping to regrow :-/. Jump on those and see what you end up with.

Or, shave your head and hope you look good with one :)

Okay thanks, I'll buy a bottle of nizoral today, I've read that Rogaine only helps the crown, should I still use it?

Hey twindan, first off dont panic!!! All is not lost, since you lost hair in only the last two years (plus you're young) theres a good chance you can get thickness and even a lot of your hairline back.

I'd do this:

1. Try 1mg per day finasteride (propecia). If you gets side effects stop straight away.
2. Get on minoxidil (rogaine) straight away, the stuff rules! (once or twice daily)
3. nizoral shampoo is good too. (2-3 times a week)
4. If you get sides from 1, try topical spironolactone (s5 cream sold on this site). Its a topical androgen blocker.

Try that for a few months man, and make sure you take pictures to show your progress. Remember if theres no change, that still may be a good thing!

Good luck :)

Thanks a lot for all the info, I just bought rogaine, but I can find nizoral anywhere, it seems to be sold out everywhere, So I'll get it when its available.

Hey man, you might look good bald!! :)

But if you do decide to start a regime, here's a tip. I'm 23, have been losing hair slowly since i was about 19 or 20. I started using finasteride, i'm 4 months in and i haven't noticed any positive results yet, but apparently you don't notice positive results until somewhere within the 7-12 month mark. So my point is - be patient!

Good luck.

If you cant get nizoral shampoo, try Revita (its on amazon). It might be a little more expensive, but lathers with a small amount of it so it lasts ages, and has the same ingredient (Ketoconazole) and more good shiz.
