Cassin, Gardener,

Have you guys been watching that "Hard Knocks" show on HBO about the Cowboys?? I have to say...I value team chemistry and camaraderie greatly, and they seem to have a lot of it. Not to mention some great talent.

I think a lot of that is due to the strength of the organization, and coaching. I think that winning is a 'culture', and it is something that gets passed along from season to season even as the personnel change.

Cowboys have awesome chemistry right now. Their just one of those franchises who will always be great again after some downtime. I am very fortunate to live here and appreciate them in my back yard.

Supposedly they offered up Anthony Spencer and a 3rd rounder for Anquan Boldin. Thats a pretty damn fair trade to me, maybe need a 2nd instead of a third. If that happens we have 2 superbowls in the next 4 years guaranteed.

But even though the chemistry works right now we have so many volatile personalities that I think Boldin would eventually be too much unless Ownes is willing to give up a chunk of his opportunities. But damn...anything under 5 goes to Witten/Felix Jones...5 to 20 goes to Owens...everything 20+ goes to Boldin...good God...who could stop that?

NCAA football has never sparked my interest much. I like following players for a long time and I can't stand the constant rotation of college ball.

The thing I LOVE about college football is that there is so much more diversity in the personalities and styles of play amongst the teams. In the NFL, all of the teams are so deep with talent that they can mount a balanced attack.

In college not as many teams are as balanced, so teams and programs develop personalities and are forced to specialize a lot more. I love it when you have matchups where different styles collide... in the old days, watching the crushing 'wishbone' ground game of Nebraska pitted against the aerial attack of Florida as an example. Or from last season, watching the ultra-speedy spread offense of Illinois match up against an Ohio State, or the 'West Coast' offense of USC pitted against a classic Big Ten 'trench warfare'-type defense of Michigan. There are just more interesting matchup issues in the college game, and it's fascinating to see how the good teams make adjustments as the game progresses.

In the NFL, the styles are a lot more homogenized because NFL teams can afford to have outstanding athletes at most every position. This isn't to say that I don't like NFL any less, I like both just as much... but the matchup issues aren't as dramatically different in the NFL than they are in college.

G-Man...thats a great reply and that makes sense. I think thats one reason why I was so happy when the Cowboys went to a 3-4 defense and a 2 h-back offense. Very unique.

And thank you for not spewing the "purity of the game" and "they play for free" BS. NCAA football is more corrupt than the mafia.

Oh, heck no... College football "pure"?... with all of these "athletic booster groups", and agents chomping at the bit to get a slice out of the future gold mines that the up and coming athletes promise for them? LOL..

I respect the Ducks. Good program.
Thanks man. For what it's worth, when it comes down to a non-conference game -- and it doesn't affect the Ducks's chances of a bowl -- or an end of year bowl, I'll always root for USC. During the regular season? War. I'm still pissed that Dixon messed up his ankle last year. We should've been Pac-10 champs!! He should've won the Heisman!

I don't think anyone could put it better. As for not being able to follow players for longer than 3 or 4 years--at least their loyalties are to their team. It's like Seinfeld's bit about teams only defined by the uniforms they wear, and not liking a player when he starts wearing a different shirt. With college, once you're on, you're on for your whole college career, violent/criminal outbursts or rare team-swapping every now and then changing things up. It's not necessarily more "pure", as these players get comped everything from cars to apartments to actual grades. But they can really affect a university's entire athletic program if they do well, which in turn affects the university. They're not just changing shirts every couple years.

The New England Patriots, that's who.

In all seriousness, if they get Boldin, I feel bad for opposing secondaries. But with all due respect, I just don't see 2 Super Bowls in 4 years coming from them. Quite frankly, I don't think Romo has "it". I'm sure you know what I mean by "it", and I just don't think it's there. He’s very, very good. And he has one of my favorite qualities in a QB, which is he will throw 3 interceptions in a game and still be making nearly impossible throws across the middle without even thinking about it…I love that about him. But as far as always winning the big games, he just doesn’t have “itâ€￾, from what I've seen.

Right now would be a great time to talk about how Brady has “itâ€￾, if only he didn’t choke in the Super Bowl.

Romo has "it"

watch that video I linked. If that's not "it" then nothing is. The only reason Romo wasn't drafted was because he was skinny. He got to Dallas and was told to put on 25lbs. Roger and Troy say they think he may be better than them...now just imagine those two saying that.

And as far as the superbowl...I didn't say wins but a chance to go to one. With Boldin who would stop them in the NFC? Phili? Redskins?
