Hi all - I'm 23 y/o and have never known anything but a thick head of hair. I'm not paranoid or fearful enough to not realize I still have a very thick head of hair.
Maternal side is very good on hair for life, paternal grandfather and my father both had steady balding from the 40s on, but definitely not at my age.
However, in the mirror I have recently noticed a little bit more scalp near the vertex where all the hair starts growing in different directions. I am a serious hypochondriac, so I know I may be reading too much into it, but for the last few days I've been convinced my decent into male pattern baldness had begun.
I've posted a couple of pictures here - does this look the start of balding that will spread from the crown, or is it simply a natural thinness in that area that I may never have noticed. I've been trying to find photos from years back that highlight that area and, while really not conclusive, it seems there may always have been a sliiight bit of showing there.
Another note is that I have been very slow to gain any facial/chest/thick body hair, and that has started to come in more vigorously recently.
Is this the kind of thing you let go for a year and come back to it? I have no interest in taking pills that are going to screw with my body at this moment, but wouldn't be against a Rogaine atop the scalp option if that would close up my spot - hopefully then I'd be OK on the other areas.
Any general guidance (you're crazy dude! or 'yup, you've got the start of it!) would be appreciated.
