Hey,

I recently had a hair transplant with Dr. Rahal in Canada. I have attached the before and after shots for you to see. Overall I'm happy with the results thus far, but I guess only the end result matters.

I had 4321 grafts on the frontal region of my scalp, the density was 46 cm^2. I had wanted the crown area done as well, but due to the area I needed to cover this was not possible. On reflection this was the right move, anything less than 46 is just too low. So, I have a horrible feeling this will not be my last hair transplant, but maybe I will just do FUE next time to quicken recovery.

Have been on finasteride since I was 19, have taken MSM, Rogain etc in the past as well. My hairloss started at around 16, but stabilised when I was about 21/22 (I think)

let me know what you think. I'm happy to answer any questions :)

looks good! how have you planned your recovery? I.e. what will you be doing and what kind of story do you tell people? May be a strange question but hope you catch my drift... :)

good luck, looks great? Like andrei asked, what donor density and how many grafts have you left?

Oh yeah, and do you know how big the treated area was? (for example cm² alltogether, or hairline from left to right)
EDIT:
I had 4321 grafts on the frontal region of my scalp, the density was 46 cm^2
4321/46 = 93 cm². 46/cm² was the average density?

I'm amazed by that one:

Hey,
Thanks for your replies!

I have told people I work with that I was in a car accident and have brusies and scaring to my head. Dishonest yes, but I really didn't want to tell people. Wearing a hat all day really sucks.

No, neither of us thought I was too young, in the end you can plan how your hair will fall out. So as long as you don't just fill in the blanks but rather the majority of the area that is likely to fall out I don't think age matters.

Hard to say how much porpecia helped really, but I think it did a fair bit.

Will check the exact density and coverage area and get back to you. What's so amazing about that picture?

Neither of you thought you were to young at 23? ..... .....

Well either way the post surgery results look good. Im just against young people getting hair transplants, esepecially when the hair loss is extensive at 22/23 I hope you dont end up regretting this 5 years from now. Good luck man. For now, just get as much pussy as you can!! And keep us updated please.

why do people get strips? jesus christ i wouldnt let anyone mar my head like that

The scar is almost invisible now after just one month. The hair will grow through the scar, so you will not be able to see it at all etc...

With strip you can get far more grafts in one session, this is it's main advantage. Also, as you remove an entire section of your scalp you don't have a thinning effect.

Saying that as I need another hair transplant on my crown area I would consider FUE as I would only need about 2000 grafts. But we shall see.

The most important aspect of undertaking strip is to choose a very good surgeon, otherwise you end up with a scar and discomfort. The scar is not something I'm concerned by now at all.

Where you just saying you'd check about density / size of area or are you really doing it? ;)

Personally, I would just do strip until you've exhausted it. I know you dont want to go through the healing process again, but Having only one mark/scar is advantageous, its only 2 weeks. Also, you can get the most amount of grafts by exhausting your strip area, THEN doing FUE when you cant do strip anymore.

Barca, be a little more sensitive. I would never consider strip either, but this man has taken that route and it's probably not comforting to hear those kinds of statements, especially so soon after surgery.

Hey,

The initial coverage area was planned to be 87cm2 with 4000 grafts, making 46 grafts per cm2. As I had 4300 grafts the area was increased to about 92 cm2 at the same density.

The area covered was quite large hence why I didn't have enough density to do the crown area at the same time. I have attached the surgical map :)

Thanks for that map, that's really interesting!

I guess the first numbers in each area show the cm² (or cm?) and the other one the nr. of grafts, right? Could you list them? It's hard to read some of them!

Oh yeah, and how did the dr. rate your donor density?

Thanks again for posting this!

here you go :)

5 200 9 450 475 9.5 350 8
7.5 350 425 9
12 500 650
600

total
4000

he said the density was good, hence being able to take more grafts.
