Hi Folks,

I started receding at the front a bit when I was 23 but nothing too bad and just a ´mature´hairline. Fastforward a few years and the only fastfowarding has been my hairline, which has shaped now into a V-shape at the front or a landing strip a bit, with diffuse thinning on top as well.

I was using concealers a lot, and probably started relying or using them too much. It was a fine stopgap but you can´t touch your hair, you can´t lye down on a pillow that isn't dark witthout it coming off.

Fed up of Hats and hiding under them, I decided to try a Wig, but also was parnoid after getting it fitted, that I ended up taking it off after the first day, but for a person who plays a lot of Sports including Squash and Running 5-6 times a Week, I don't know if this is an option because of that.

So, I opted to shave it all off. I´ve had it for a month like this, and I still dunno if it like it or not. My Hair is very dark and I´m white pale skinned with thick eyebrows, had a few compliments like a surfer friend Kelly Slater, Brings out your eyes etc, but also had cancer patient, eeastern european thug and Billy Corgan as well. So, swings and roundabouts.
I read another website that encourages Guys to shave it all off (I think we all know the name of it) but it's a bit insencere with all the ´´You rock the look´´ etc, when some People don't..
I´m not as pessimistic as some about People looking good bald. I say a good few can look half decent bald, but on that site they all seem encourage it and just say you look good even if you look crap.

Might be falling on deaf ears here, but I also don't want to be the bald guy. I know we all don't and that's why we are here.

So options for the future are...

I´m currently traveling, I lost my Job and decided to spend some savings on traveling for a few months, so I´m still buzzed down, shave it once a week with a Razor..
I can grow the hair in, give the piece another chance when I return home at Christmas time, and People probably won´t know as I had concealers in when I left..
Or go for FUE on the hairline.. but I´m unsure of because the scar mark.
I'm not totally against shaving it to a 1 or a 2 but I think in order to look good with this, I need more of the hairline brought forward, but then won´t a FUE have some scars at the back if you shave it down to that level too.

Or, keep shaving it and embracing it. Or, try to embrace it! I should say. I still feel a lot happier when a hat on but I can´t live under a hat forever. I had some dermmatch left over from using it when i grew my hair and after shaving it down, I stuck some over the V-shape at the front, although I didn´t go out with it on as I was sure it probably look silly but i 'painted' it in so it looked like I had more a Ushaped hairline than a V, and I looked a lot better shaved.. Never ventured out with it on though as I have no idea if it looks real or probably not.
Does anyone shade, or use concealer on a complete shaved head... to held add ´shadow´to their head?

Sorry for going on, but good to see this thread. Even if some of the stories are depressing, its good to come here and read and hear views on issues that are affecting us all. Unlike some others including shaving forums or wig forums where they all just say ''It looks ace'' when sometimes it doesn't.

Hope to be around for a while and post more.

Take Care,

i can totaly relate - same age, same features, i would love to get a FUE in the frontal area to create an illusion of hairline when shaved/buzzed to 0, simply because i dont have enough hair to cover everything, sadly FUE still causes some scaring, so thats an issue ofc, i say try to embrace it, understand that some jerks and some shallow girls might not be as accepting as gourmetstylewellness.com members are :) and keep en eye for future developments, i see there is alot of work in progress for some real cures down the line, so we might just be saved in our "effective" life-time :p
take care!

What would be wrong with a regimen of some kind? I'll put the list of the best things I've found :) - finasteride, minoxidil, nizoral, RU58841, Eucapil, Folligen, Mega-Tek. I reckon a clever combo of those could probably save most people's hair...

Hey Folks,

Thanks for the reviews.

Orri, having read a few posts and seen your posts. I am almost in the same situation regards recesion and colour etc. Do you shave it off, once a week or razor it every week?
I agree, it's amazing what a hairline can do. I shaved my head off, I've started razoring it once a week less hassle as I'm traveling at the moment but played about with the concealers and even with a complete baldhead and rubbed some concealer on my head to pretend a hairline, it looked ok and that was complete bald... but like I said, it probaby looks very fake so I didn't go out with it.

Think only thing to do is to embrace it. Has it affected your wardrobe? I used to wear a lot of colourful clothes and somehow feel I don't know if I should be doing this as Im now bald if that makes sense haha.

And also, need to get used to this.

Went out to a few Bars with My Girlfriend on Friday Night. We got to the first Bar and usually we both got ID'd (carded) in a few places, roll onto the first place.. They ask for her ID.. I get stamped right away and let in. 2nd place, we're both walking in, they stop her ''How old are you?" and she mentions she's 28 anc check her ID, yet no ID asked from me.

2 Weeks earlier, we had been out walking, and stopped at a bar-grill place in Town. I had my beanie on and we both got ID'd.

I take the clipper off the machine and do the whole thing at least once a week (not fair as i have much less hair left, yet i have to "haircut" EVERY WEEK! ><), but i think soon ill go with the razor in the shower thing (ill do it for sure in the summer)

i know what you mean... i never had "colorful" clothing, so it didnt effect me that much, i cant wear a undershirt / no-sleeve shirts anymore (too much white flesh :S) but it does look good with elegant clothing. i do take care for my facial skin much much more now because all the bumps and the leftover scars from teen acne are showing very much... and there is one thing worse then going bald, is going bald with acne scars :)

Hi Ori,

Good luck with the Razor shaving. I'm still unsure about it myself, but if anything I only need to shave once a week, and if you have a job or prefer your head to have a bit of a stubble coming through then it´hopefully only take 2days or so before it comes back through.
I sometimes shave with the Razor as well and change about. I'm still quite new to shaving, only been doing it since August.
How long have you been at it?

Totally agree about your skin and looking after yourself. In about 2008, I stuck on about 3stone of weight basically due to an unhealthy lifestyle, very little walking, late shifts etc sleeping allday then working nights part-time whilst studying and eating rubbish.
I´m now back down to a healthy weight for a year now, and do a lot of running, walking, and lead an active lifestyle.
Focussing now on looking after my body and face as well. I've got a few lines on my forehead, but for 28 I still (with a Beanie on anyways) get told I look under 25.

Thanks for the list of meds, Hoppi. I haven't looked enough into that side of things, and should do some research.

I´ve got a film fancy dress party at Christmas, and I´m thinking of growing in a Mohawk and go as Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver.. I´ve still got a fairly biggish bit at the front (it´s the sides that are rapidly depleting) so going to try that. I can´t go with a Mohawk forever and it might even look stupid, but I´ll keep you posted to see if us receders can pull it off - haha.

Sounds like your in the same boat as me. I have a v shaped hairline with diffuse thinning ontop. I have tried a lot of hairloss products and sadly most didn't deliver or caused too many side effects for me to see the benefits. I shave my head now and feel ten times better about it and still get noticed by the ladies. The thing i dont like about it is having to shave often lol. If it gets worse to the point where it dont look good i might still consider a hair peice. Were still relativelly young compared to human life span and deserve a shot at looking our best.

Bottom line is do what makes you happy.

I've had mixed reactions in the past when asking about FUE for high norwoods who want a buzz cut look, even when considering transplanting body hair to avoid head scars. I've yet to see results from a patient who has had anything like it tbh.

I think the thing is that the sly guys site is overly positive and while some of them look good the overall majority look quite terrible and when they compliment each other they give false confidence.

And still, its probably better to be a delusional sly guy then a miserable balding guy.

If someone is delusional, worst case happening to that guy would be getting reject left and right, online or offline.
But if someone becomes miserable bald guy because of Internet, forget girls,he would be failing in every aspects of life.

If someone is in college,he may fall behind in studies,in someone is appearing in Interviews,he may restrict himself from acing the interview.

Redpill is bullshit.

To be fair, its better to be redpill while analysing but approach should always be positive.

Try balding at 14. Thats your f*****g prime jesus. Or otherwise the median age when you learn to pick up chicks. I spent that as a balding otherwise less-worthy subhuman.

14 isn't your prime.

A mans prime is around the late 20s in most aspects.

They say our intellectual peak is our early 30s.

Doesn't it depend on the society and location?

Here in India 14-17 is pretty much your prime, and 17-21 your golden prime. After that you're literally 'aged', and all opportunities in life over. This is in context of having 'fun' and relations both.

After 21 you're expected to sell your body to your job, and at 25 betawhore yourself for a wife who will never appreciate/love you.
