Fred, with some reservations I will say that Swing's "touch and go situation"( FUE) is a bit contradictory to your entitled assertions about this relatively new procedure. There may be other patients who share his similar and misfortunate post surgery problems or it may be that his experience may be an exception. Which possibly might rule Swing an exceptional fellow, and I'm not prepared to give him that platform just yet. :) I stated before, a wig is not a permanent solution to hair loss. I won't promote it's virtuous qualities just because I wore one in the past with some moderate success. Nor do I entirely disagree with you or others of like mind/opinion whom consider the idea of choosing to wear a wig off as an overpriced and flimsy alternative to surgery. In the same breath I will say, as a recipient myself of a failed strip surgery ( certainly no exception here), I can not sensationalize or sing the positive merits of surgery either. Your assertion about surgery(FUE) is partly true. A hair transplant can certainly result in moderate to good cosmetic improvement. A word to the wise to those whom rely on (published) statistical data for comfort. Surgery stats are notoriously inflated and often tell only half a story. So pleease read them with a well balanced dose of skepticism and jaundice eye. Wig versus Surgery(FUE)= Risks + Rewards. Neither are absolute. Fred I genuinely wish your's/everyone's present/future surgical experience and outcome ends on the overall positive spectrum of this debatable equation. Life is filled with choices. The challenge is deciding which one is going to be best suited to complement your particular circumstances while understanding that those very same circumstances are often short-lived and can and will change/disappear in the wink of an eye. I'm thankful we have choices.

how did your strip surgery fail?

Still, it's not your own hair, it's not practical and it's not viable. Anyone could sneak up behind you, rip it off and make an *** out of you.

A hair transplant will not turn you into a thick NW1, but once my FUE's are done, I can live my life the way I intend to, without ever having to worry about male pattern baldness again.

You're greedy, you only want a thick NW1 and nothing else. Low density NW2 forever works for me. The way I see it, you are vain. I just want to look better.
If you seen a pic of me when I was 21 my hair looked exactly like that. Full and fabulous. Am I vain? I guess, hey I'm a good looking guy and thank god for that because if your ugly well you can't really do much about that. I look at it this way,I just want what was taken from me. I want what I'm suppose to have. I'm 37 in that in it was taken last month,I only have what 15 more years maybe to look my best? Why not take advantage of the time you have because someday your going to be old. Were all going to be 60 and 70 and so on. Hair or not when your 60 plus n oone is going to care because your still 60! Well I'm not 60 I'm 37 and I want to take full advantage of my time looking young and good while it's still in front me. And no you can't just rip it off trust me your scalp would come with it,it is NOT coming off. And who is going to grab your hair anyway no one knows and no one can tell that is the secret,it is undetectable. If it wasn't no way would even think of wearing it.

Of the 5000 euro, your mom is funding half of it right?

This is the reaction of most people (with a NW1) when I tell them my FUE will cost 5000;: "Why don't you buy a car instead?" Yeah right, a car, what for?

lol, that is classic non-hair loss sufferer response! Absolute f**king morons! Cos we all know the ultimate, permanent solution to hair loss is a flash new ride! Dear oh dear.

.... Anyway on another note, I wish you the very best of luck with the hair transplant Fred! I know you've waited it out a while to get this done and spent the best part of your early 20s (the hardest time) being nw4/5, so I for one, really hope you get the best possible outcome!

People who opt for hair systems are grade A bozos.
Why waste thousands of pound for something that is not yours?

My ****ing dad who is a cue ball passed down the hair loss gene to already 3 of his 6 boys, thanks dad for keeping the baldies alive and being a common occurrence in modern society. Seriously the other three haven't even matured and I expect them to all be baldies too.
6 boys, 3 girls..

Fred you know a Fue isn't the end of your hair loss battle, you'll still have to wait months and months for it to come through and what about your minoxidil hairs?

How many hairs are you getting transplanted Fred? I thought for us NW6s hair transplants were not an option?

I must have like 200 minoxidil unaffected hairs left at the front, this is one of my main worries before my FUE: am I bald enough? Weird I know. No I know, the battle is not over.

I'll do a second FUE next year (if my donor allows it), and maybe finish the back of my head with beard hair (if and when needed, minoxidil is maintaining my hair pretty well back there).

Then I'll have to move on to SMP if I want to improve further.

I just hope it will turn out alright, and that I will not succumb to "hair greed".

Awesome plan, but Fred Id seriously think about smp. youll never be able to really shave after that. It sounds promising but really its a no go back situation. If you wouldnt do FUT because of the scar why tattoo your head? You never know what can happen up there in the future.

I also want to use body hair as Im itialian and its pretty prevalent. Another thing I get jealous over. My brother has the perfect head of hair and like zero body hair where my chest and arms are covered. My back is meh, not awful but def noticable if I dont take it off.

Figure its there might as well use it. Thats if this heals well for me and actually starts looking like it should.

Why wouldn't I be able to shave? Here's how a shaved donor looks after FUE: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pMHgjuFk6...ACZ8/XECULmFC5q4/s1600/neograftdonor1week.jpg

My surgeon uses a 0,8 mm punch. And even if there is scarring showing a little, I wouldn't care. What I care about is having hair to frame my face again.

It's in my signature Captain: 2000 grafts, so roughly 5000 hairs. No indeed, it's not an option, because we're not able to cover it all. I don't care, I'll just leave my crown bald.

Like this guy: http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r635/asmedfue/2400%20FUE%20-%20CK/27f1c026.jpg

No I meant be able to shave after SMP. I was saying you're spending the extra cash for FUE over FUT because an FUT scar wont let you shave after. SMP to me is not shavable after because its to obvious

how did your strip surgery fail?
20% of my grafts survived and a strip scar the length and girth of the grand canyon. I consider that a double failure.

You'll going to be fine. You are doing the best you can possibly do right now. Yes my experience was ****ty, but I also know my attitude was not all peaches and cream either before my demoralizing hair transplant. Keep your chin up kid.

I see in general a lot of people posting here who are obsessed with their hair. They try so desperately to improve their appearance but there is a way to look even better than if you had a full head of hair. If you improve your body it will make up for the hair you don't have. If you start bodybuilding and get the body of a fitness model and dress nice do you really think you can't at the very least date moderately attractive women? Even if you are a nw6 or nw7 it should not be a problem. Almost anyone can achieve this look in 4 years max naturally if they eat right and work out properly with the right routine etc. Start bodybuilding. Being a nw4 even is not even bad if you work hard and get a body like this

I agree with you. Confidence goes a long way...

What is SMP? Not heard of that one.

Also, good luck Fred. We are all pulling for you.

Edit-found it was scalp tattooing.

I've always thought this too. If you had SMP and shaved it would look unnatural as you could never shave the tattoo, you would have to get SMP all over evenly spread.
