I really cut down on my drinking since September. I've drank once since then, to concentrate on the gym. I had a bit of a crazy summer, drinking excessively EVERY night so I decided to give my body a break. I'm a big guy 6'6 210lbs and usually have a high tolerance but yesterday I went on a date and had one pint. I could feel it hitting me straight away (normally it would take 4 pints before I feel any sort of buzz). Is it normal for your tolerance to fall so drastically when you've been off the booze for a few months?

Yes - your body isn't metabolizing the alcohol as quickly. It's even more noticeable if you drink on an empty stomach.
