Hello all! I'm so hoping that this story rings true for someone and I can get some advice. I'm in my early 30's and started experience a general thinning of my hair when I was about 23. For about 3 or 4 years it thinned out and then stopped for about the same period of time and then started again! So...off and on. Throughout this time period I've had my thyroid checked 2 or 3 times, I've had my hormone and testosterone levels checked, and iron checked. I'm a wee bit low on the iron side but everything else came back normal. I also was on and off birth control 2 times in that time period (I don't know if it triggered it). Currently, I have stopped using any commercial shampoo (I used head and shoulders for years because I had scalp issues, maybe Seb D?) and started using rhassoul clay, honey, and ACV to wash my hair with great success (all my scalp issues are gone). I've also been on Forcapil, the occasional iron supplement, and using Ducray Neopeptides on my scalp. Over the past year of this treatment I have seen a lot of regrowth but it is really thin, fine hair which is growing in and that seems consistent with alopecia. Every time I visit a derm they take one look at my scalp and say, "oh yeah, alopecia," however, I wanted to know for sure so I had a trichogram done and the results are completely against alopecia. So, I guess what I want to know is, if it isn't alopecia what could it be? My dermatologist said it is just "lazy hair." Uh...what? haha! Does this story sound like anyone else? I'm at a loss of what to do now that it is spring time again and the shedding has started once more! Help!
