Am I Balding? (multiple Photos Included)

Hey guys,
I'm an 18 year old male, and attached are photos of my hairline from when I was 12 (hair is swept weirdly in them), 8 months ago, and today, respectively. As you can see from the photos of when I was 12, I have always had a v/m shaped hairline. However, in recent months, I've noticed that the temples have begun receding, and the v/m shape has thus became more pronounced.
Additionally, my dad and his dad are both Norwood 6/7, and my uncle (his brother) has a Norwood 2 hairline. My mother's dad has a Norwood 2.5, and her uncles are all Norwood 2-4.
Am I balding?

NW2 at the most.

Well, rip me then. This wouldn't be so bad if my natural hairline didn't make any slight recession look insanely pronounced.

It's not bad at all. You should be happy. I'm fighting to get back to a NW3 so I can get a hair transplant. You don't even need a hair transplant, you just need to maintain what you have. Just get on finasteride, and you should be good for years.

It just sucks when most people my age I know are Norwood 0-1.

Technically there is no NW0. NW1 is zero hair loss. Generally we use NW1 on the forums to describe hair that is just starting to recede, but isn't bad enough to be classified as a mature(NW2) hairline yet. NW3 is where it starts to look bad.

Would I be fine to just use min and a 1.5mm derma roller for now? I ordered the latter a week ago, but I'm a bit scared to use finasteride instead of min, given the side effects which finasteride can have.

Yes, you should get regrowth from that alone, but it won't last without finasteride. It's unlikely to get sides on finasteride, and if you do they go away after you stop.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about right now, but that family history compelled me to say you should keep an eye on it. This is barely a Norwood 2 and I don’t think there’s any need to jump on anything at this point. The thing about minoxidil and finasteride/duta is that once you start you have to keep taking them to keep their effect. They also have a limited window of efficacy. You shouldn’t take anything until you’re sure you need it.

If you want an immediate determination you should go see a dermatologist. Otherwise, take identical pictures every 3 months and compare.
