I do not cut my own bases to fit me - I have the factory do it as I just don't trust myself.
That said, I come upon a standard 8x10, and after trying to wear it, I found it looked ridiculous, as the hairline (graduated), was ridiculously unatural.
I manuevered the piece on my head, spinning it around, until I found I find a perfect hairline. Uneven, temples recessed & hassle free.
What's astounding about this technique is not hairline related, however.
It makes the hairpiece look infinitely more realistic. I had some other people try & they were stunned. Again, you need a piece a recessed hairline. I rotate my piece 20-25 degrees, and the fact that there is less hair in both the front and now the side makes the piece look SO SO much more like genuine hair. I'm stunned.
Of course, you cannot fully expose your hairline using this technique. You can fully expose the the parts which are recessed and over your forehead, but you're limited in that regard.
Of course, all this can be achieved by using all lace & plucking/nairing hair, but that's a b**ch & it weakens the lace I've heard.
