Any advice when moving over from finasteride to dutasteride?

Considering the switch. Turning 26 years old, 11 months into finasteride, it has helped my crown a lot but one of my hairline corners/temples continues to thin.

I think I am going to get blood work done prior to meeting with my derm, just for peace of mind.

Any tips? Tapering off finasteride and onto dutasteride, how to dose them? Any advice? Thanks guys

Don't switch. I wish 6 months ago someone would have told me this.

I've been on finasteride for the past 12 years; and 6 months ago, I tried dutasteride for a few months, I've never lost so much hair ever!

There is something shady about dutasteride, first of all, it sounds too good to be true and yet it's not FDA-approved for hair loss. I don't know why I lost so much hair while on dutasteride.

Maybe the hair you lost was going to come back in thicker?

Did you regain that hair when you went back to finasteride?

Jokes aside, I've been on dutasteride for a year and a half now after being on finasteride for about two years. I'm 26 also.

Still losing my hairline/temples gradually, but thats just how it goes for some folks I suppose.

When I made the switch, I dropped finasteride completely and took dutasteride EOD and then about a month later I started taking it every day.

thanks for the response. how bad was your hair loss when you started finasteride? then when you started dutasteride? also do you use minoxidil? did dutasteride slow it down more than finasteride?

always just curious in terms of comparisons with ppl in my similar boat

I was a NW2 when I started finasteride, and I'm between NW2-NW3 now on dutasteride. Only had temple loss at first, but when I noticed my hairline slowly losing ground I made the switch (never had crown loss).

No sides as far as I'm aware.. maybe a slightly lower libido/watery semen, but that was the same with finasteride.

I am using minoxidil on my temples to no avail. Maybe have gained an insignificant amount of peach fuzz, but if you use it on your crown it is definitely more beneficial.

I do feel like my hair is thicker on dutasteride overall and that I am shedding less.

Best of luck to you good sir!
