Hello. I'm 28 years old and I've had a receding hair line for several years now. I don't have the widow's peak that I've heard of. My hair loss is more in the middle/front. At this point a have an uneven hairline in the front, and I have to comb my hair more forward to make it look right. I have been using 5% minoxidil. for years now with minimal results. I do think it has slowed the recession though. I have noticed through the years a lot of loose hairs on my bathroom sink, and when I run my hands through my wet hair. The last time I went to my barber, he put gel in my hair and styled it for me. when I got home I looked at the back of my head with a mirror and noticed the top of my head was significantly thinner than I remember. Lets just say I wasn't happy to notice it. Now, even with my hair dry I can feel that I have a thinner area on top. When my hair is wet, I can see my scalp. Other than minoxidil., are there any non prespription things I can get to help. I was thinking about proscar, but I don't want to get a prescription, and I don't like the side effects I've hear about. I've heard about Sal Palmetto and some other shampoos that help. Any help would be appreciated. I want to battle this before its too late.
