I’m using turkish Avodart but not from inhousepharmacy. My shed is also very hardcore. I’m 5 months in.

I’m also using finasteride along with it just to make sure it’s a fallback if my avodart is fake. I think it’s not, my hairline is f*****g destroyed and I hope it’s coming back in a couple of months. If not, I’m dropping duta/increasing dose and adding RU. Will see...

This is why I'll never use dutasteride. @itsjustsimon do you have before and after pictures to show the damage? It's not that I don't believe you, because I do but its very rare for someone claiming dutasteride made things worse to post proof. You could help steer others away from making the same choice if you do. Thanks and I hope things get better for you!

Okey there it is. Unfortunately I only have one photo of my hair before I started duta ( yes, I know, my mistake but to be honest I didn’t really thought things will go this way). That before photo was done 1 year ago or so. Then it all went downhill and 5 months ago I started dutasteride. My hairline went to sh*t as you can see. Both times hair is washed with the same shampoo.

I just have no idea how it all went to sh*t in less than a year after maintaining hair from the first photo on finasteride alone for more than six years.

This is admittedly anecdotal but I had horrible frontal shedding on dutasteride until I added RU. I have read a lot of anecdotal reports of increase frontal shedding on dutasteride. Perhaps it is because the testosterone increase is greater than finasteride. Studies show that scalp testosterone rose 24% for Finasteride, 46% for 0.05mg Dutasteride, 44% for 0.1mg Dutasteride, 104% for 0.5mg Dutasteride. Now does that matter? I am not sure. Stolen from another forum user "If dutasteride increases scalp T more than finasteride, it's probably mostly to the extent that dutasteride prevents that T from becoming DHT to begin with. Keep in mind, you can sample sebaceous excretions. You can't sample the DP in vivo."

Perhaps it's throwing us into Telogen Effluvium because the hormone suppression is just so great.

It's hard to tell. I don't want to tell people to use a non FDA approved drug but I really believe I needed a topical AA on dutasteride.

Edit - I eventually got of dutasteride because the sides wrecked me. I am also very concerned with long term effects on your brain and liver.

Totally agree. I’m not really sure and have no time right now to google this since I’m on the phone, but as my knowledge go finasteride decreases scalp DHT around 40%, duta around 50% but testo increases from 24% to 104%. Yeah I know that dutasteride still maintains more hair from the studies we have but maybe some people have hair that are more sensitive to testosterone. I don’t know, just my line of thought. As soon as I can I will add ru to my regimen or drop dutasteride completelly.
