To all athletes on this form!
I am an endurance athlete (cycling) competiting at a national level. I am also a hairloss sufferer and do want do something about it as it depresses me.
I struggle with finding a good treatment for my hairloss as I also would like to be as fit and fast as possible. Many hairloss drugs/products seem to cause (side) effects that are hamrful for one's stamina. Therefore I am wondering which products you take and how you feel it does (not) have an effect on your hair and athletic performance?
I personally only use small amounts of minoxidil 5% (0.5 - 0.75ml a day) at the moment combined with some caffein shampoo. I am looking to add more products, especially a DHT inhibitor and am thinking of spironolactone.
I have tried finasteride as well but I felt sh*t using it, mostly due to fear of side effects and decided this was not the drug for me. Also, the literature I read suggested that it most likely negatively affects my performance.
I am very curious to learn how other atheletes on this form have dealt with the challenge of hairloss!
