Bad Rogaine Sides - Alternatives?

Hey guys - haven't seen many threads on this but I am one of the unlucky few that suffers from the red/puffy face sides from minoxidil application. It is very irritating!

I would like to stay on a topical regrowth supplement but don't know if the sides are caused by actual minoxidil or something else in rogaine?

Any help in choosing an alternative much appreciated, thanks!

Me too! I'm wondering if there is a minoxidil product in particular that people got facial bloating or wrinkles but then changed to another minoxidil product and things got better? It seems that I don't want a minoxidil product that will absorb too well as going systemic is bad news for me!!

It's definitely the minoxidil, and this is the best product for re-growth. I was shocked to see that apparently every min. product, be it nanosomes, foam, liquid, whatever, will give the same sides to susceptible people. Only thing to do is start decreasing dosage and try to live with the sides by treating them. Perhaps smaller dosages throughout the day? I've gone down from 5% to 2%. I've actually begun applying anti-wrinkle creams around eyes, forehead and mouth every day to try and prevent the face from becoming completely wrecked, though I already look like I have acromegaly. This shows how scared I am to come off minoxidil! Still looking for ways to decrease the facial swelling in addition to the standard method of drinking tons of water and limiting sodium intake.

Often seems like the ones who get these sides are also the best hair responders.

I definitely was responding well to minoxidil the first time around but stopped due to these sides - that was nearly 2 years ago and I had forgotten about them.

I am on 5% now and will see if 2% makes any difference, guess the less sides I have the less effective it is - lame!
