Hi, I'm 22 years old and I am in the very beginning stages. I still have most of my hair but it has receded and thinned on top a noticeable amount in the past year and a half. I'm going to start on propecia (or generic brand), rogaine, and vitamins to help out immediatly. I'm guessing that stuff won't work forever though. What I would like to know is when would be the best time for a hair transplant? Some people have said not to do it early and then others say that a norwood 6 or 7 level is too late? Just thought I'd ask. I'm gonna start putting money aside now because I think it might come to that point. My dad is very bald and I'm afraid I will end up just like him. thanks guys!

The ONLY time for a hair transplant is when you have got your hairloss halted/stabilised with meds. But also IMO its best to wait until there is actually something worth working on say NW3+ and then you can get yourself a realistic and conservative hairline design. Remember its vwery possible that you'll have to go back for more work at a later date so dont get giving yourself a teenage hairline and using up half of your donor. You should be careful because it would be mistake to get one at all if you are destined for a NW7.
