Best Treatments While I Still Have Hair?

My hair has been slowly thinning for about six years now (across entire scalp and receding hairline) and is finally getting to point where it is painfully noticeable and my typical hairstyle will soon become impractical.

I'm looking for additional treatments with minimal side effects that would help me at least maintain what I do have and hopefully regrow a little bit of hair.

Maintenance-
I've been using Nizoral 2-3 times a week for 6 months.
I've been using spironolactone S5 Cream on average 1.5 times a day for two months

Regrowth-
I've been using Tricomin shampoo, conditioner and follicle therapy spray for 6 months

Since I started this regimen I've noticed two things:
1. My hair is still thinning at its normal pace. Nothing appears to have affected it.
2. My hair has gotten thicker/healthier

I do realize that these treatments take time but I don't want to continue using these for another 6 months only to find that I'm basically bald before my 24th birthday because they ended up not working for me.

What other treatments would you recommend to add to my current regimen to give me the best chance at making sure I still have hair down the road?

Propecia - Don't want to risk it due to the side effects
Rogaine - Maybe a good option?
Revivogen - The solution you apply to your hair is very smelly, noticeable and hard to remove from your hands and scalp. Not a very practical long term option in my opinion.
Nanominox - MS/FMS, Flutagel, Finasgel - No idea about these things
Anything Else?

Thanks for the help.

If you go on a hair loss forum and ask what you can use besides finasteride you will be told to use a razor.

Seriously, it's your only good option. You can try things like topical spironolactone, fluridil and the like. Which will have some benefit. But finasteride is a must.

I don't really understand your results since you say your hair is thinning but got thicker? Doesn't make sense really.

You can use minoxidil with the knowledge that it is a temporary boost your your hair count and thickness if your not using finasteride. Since your hair will improve and then it will start to get worse again because you aren't stopping DHT from killing your hair.

Who knows, maybe you get good results that last you 3 years, then you can get histogens cure or whatever.

But yeah...use finasteride or there is very little hope.

Without finasteride I would probably recommend a fluridil and liquid spironolactone combo (not at the same time of course) and maybe minoxidil for regrowth.

Or you could jump on the equol bandwagon like me and try Densiti :)

I wouldn't recommend finasteride but that's mainly because I personally loathe the stuff >.<

Given that finasteride usually takes 5-8 months to start showing results I wouldn't expect spironolactone to do so before the 6th month mark.

KeepTheHair: Wow, if what you say is true then I guess hair transplant is the only legit AND relatively safe solution for hair loss. Based off Propeciahelp.com I could never risk taking finasteride.

Yea good point, to clarify what I meant: My individual hairs have gotten thicker because before this regimen they were pretty fine but my scalp and hairline has continued to thin and shed hairs at the same pace.

So basically it appears my hair is healthier now but that doesn't matter for sh*t since it still falls out just the same.

Thanks for the other comments as well, I'll check out those other treatments. Any other recommendations?

A hair transplant without finasteride is more a disaster waiting to happen than safe solution.
As others have said finasteride is the only effective treatment, either take it (like millions of other satisfied users). Or watch your hair dissapear and wonder what if?

Before been sarcastic towards people who are trying to help, you should try and learn propecia help is complete and utter bullcrap full of psychotic freaks whos placebo effect has been the greatest side effect.

Realistically without propecia and using all that other stuff you will most likely keep losing hair at about the same pace you are now or whatever the natural progression of it would have been.
