brownish yellow oil chunks?! what are these?

I occasionally get a bunch of these on my scalp. They're pretty much like zits and I have them on my face as well as the side of my shoulders and upper arms. But the ones on scalp are always accompanied with a strand of hair when I take them out:(. I use Nizoral 2% every 2 days, and T-Gel extra strength on all the other days. Can someone tell me what these are? I just want to make sure that I do indeed have male pattern baldness and not something else that I would regret not treating. My hair is extremely thinned out in the diffuse pattern, and receded at the temples and front like a typical male pattern baldness.

ALSO, I've been on finasteride for 2 months, and been losing a lot of hair since I started (so much that my hair is noticably worse). Is there a way to know if this is a finasteride shed that would grow back or if I'm just losing it? Since I was already losing at a pretty fast pace before I started.

Additional Info: 19 and 8 months, been losing for the past 20 months, diffused all over in the first 15 months and then suddenly went from Norwood 1 to 3 in the next 5.

I'm gonna make an appointment with a dermatologist but I would appreciate some insight on this. I just want to make sure I have male pattern baldness and nothing else besides that speeding up the balding process.

I was a diffuse thinner. I lost a lot of hair and then over many years, grew quite a bit back with finasteride and minoxidil. When I started brushing more, it seemed to help as I would feel blood vessels pumping in my scalp after a good brush. Sure at first I would lose a few hairs but you must understand; if your hair falls out by simply brushing it, that hair was already out the door. Brushing helped reduce the inflammation a little, probably by spreading the oils from the scalp to your hair shaft. The past couple of years have been the best hair years since I was 19. In those two years, I have discovered Head & Shoulders Intensive Solutions which I use every morning. That worked pretty good and it greatly reduced the scalp zits and yellow crusty stuff coming off with a strand of hair. Then I decided to pour about 1ml of tea tree oil in the Head & Shoulders and also added a little bit to my minoxidil that I use at night. Wow! My scalp feels great, I rarely have a scalp zit, crusties and pluggies are gone, and my hair is at the point where I can use gel again (but I only use gel for nights out). Lastly, I have been taking fish oil capsules 2x a day. Fish oil is supposed to help fight inflammation. I'm not sure if it has done anything for hair growth, however, my joints feel great.

Anyway, I think diffuse thinning, at least in my case, has a lot to do with inflammation. If you can reduce that inflammation, I'm thinking you may see some positive changes to your hair and scalp.

Hey Yello, i remember your avatar from years ago when i used to lurk in the background, proper old skool!

How many drops do you add into your minoxidil? i'm thinking of doing this with Rosemary or Lavender...

Hi Petchsky,

I've been putting in about 10 drops per bottle. I'm not sure if either adding more or less would be better, however, that is about the max I can put in before my wife starts plugging her nose in bed :dunno: . It doesn't really stink, but it is potent smelling. It's not diluted tea tree oil either, it says 100% tea tree oil.

Please let me know what you think of rosemary or lavender. Who knows maybe one day I'll do a combo of three together!

Shall do, R+L are both known as anti androgens, so i'll drop 5 of each in my minoxidil. TTO is more a anti inflammatory. :)
