Hi all,

I'm wondering apart from C-22, is there any cheaper alternative that can be easily found in the supermarket to soak hair system when cleaning?

I can buy C-22 here in Australia but it's expensive. What kind of solvent do you use/make to soak your hair system?

I just use alcohol - specifically 99% isopropyl alcohol, also called surgical spirit. You can buy it cheaply in bulk from pharmacies and DIY shops, although you may have to order it. The proprietary brands like C-22 are basically just alcohol and scent - the active ingredient is the alcohol.

I also use 99% alcohol. But for stubborn adhesive residue I use Goo Gone. I also used C-22 about 10 years ago but switched to Goo Gone for 2 reasons....it's much cheaper and works as well or better than C-22

The product safety sheet for Goo Gone lists petroleum distillates (hydro treated light), d-limonene, and orange sweet extract.

The product safety sheet for C-22 lists petroleum distillates (hydro treated light), citrus oils, and lanolin.

The principle cleaning ingredients are the petroleum distillates.

Likewise, I have also used Autoglym. It also works the same. Uses petroleum distillates (hydro treated heavy).

Alcohol is not listed as an ingredient in any of these products.
