Can hair part direction give illusion of male pattern baldness

My natural whirl is on my right side on the rear back of my head whereas the whirl seems to be on the top of the head for most people.

Please compare my 2nd and third two headshot with my 1st and 4th headshot. it appears more like male pattern baldness if I part from my left side. If I part from my right side, it looks much more like I do not have male pattern baldness which seems to be because my crown gets covered better due to my whirl being on the right and my hair naturally seems to grow from right to left. I wonder if I have been worrying needlessly. (However, derm's scalp biopsy did return follicular minatruatization and the verdict was male pattern baldness) I have thinning on the sides of the head though.

What do you all think? Given my 39 years of age, should I still consider finasteride and Rogaine?

I do just what you do in #2 and #3. Yes it will buy you time- I have been doing it for years and still get away with it. Yes finasteride/minoxidil would most likely stop it in it's tracks..

Yeah its funny how different hair loss can look depending on lighting and how you adjust hair and things like that. The pictures to me looks like male pattern baldness though and if derm confirmed then there you are. Now its up to you whether you care enough to try the current treatments which admittedly are not miracles, but propecia could help.
