Every study I've seen on minoxidil shows that only ~10% of guys have the same amount of hair they started with after 5 years of using it.

With finasteride, it's closer to 90% maintaining after a decade and some of those actually improved.

Your choice, but I placed my bet on finasteride many years ago and it's worked well for me

Hair which grown on minoxidill, are only minoxidil depended hair. If you discontinue using minoxidil, all gains will fall out. So its better to jump on both. Finasteride and Minoxidil

And how the f*** do you know how many of those 90% wouldn't have maintained without finasteride anyways? I guess you know that there are a lot of people in this world who are balding and remain at a certain stage of the process that never advances it? In my family we are all stuck at Norwood 2 - 2.5, i saw and know a lot of people at Norwood 1.5, Norwood 2, wtf are you all that stupid and not using your brains, how could anybody possibly know if the drug helped them maintain or if maybe it was their pattern... Omfg on what people are pharmaceutical companies making money, what a bunch of low IQ sheep that can't use even those 40 IQ points that they have, unbelievable!

Honestly not sure if you're trolling or not, but long-term studies on MBP for minoxidil and finasteride were only done on those who already had the condition. Shorter term studies and those on the original finasteride 5mg for prostate and minoxidil for heart disease already proved without doubt that they both work on male pattern baldness decades ago. Thats why they were both retargeted for hairloss in the first place.

Pharma companies don't make sh*t off either. They've both been generic for many years now. I pay $45 for a years supply of finasteride at a legit pharmacy, and $75 for the yearly Dr visit for a refill. The "pharmacy shill" story wore thin many years ago. If you still believe it I don't think there's any hope left to change your mind

There are plenty of accounts - including my own, whereby finasteride has allowed the recovery of at least a Norwood which has then maintained and stayed above original baseline . Don’t go jumping to equally one sided bullshit conclusions which have equally little proof.

you managed to regain a full Norwood (example: from NW3 to NW2) with finasteride only? no minoxidil? How long did it take? 1 year?

About 8 months . I could see all the hairs coming through and forming what would become the new hairline at about month 5. No minoxidil - wouldn't touch it personally.

So what, that makes what i said less true or what? There are a lot of people who started balding at a age and maintained that Norwood until they died, who the f*** can possibly know if let's say you are starting to get bald and after you take finasteride and you stay at that balding line, how can you possibly know if finasteride maintained or if you natural pattern has stopped from advancing, it has nothing to do with what i am saying... And yes, i know that some have success with it but saying that 90% from the studies maintained for over a decade, how could someone possibly know if they were on the pill how it would have been without the pill... Some of you are real stupid i swear !

Bottom line is ... if you take finasteride and regrow a load of hair you know it’s massively helped you and bought you years. But yes you’re right it doesn’t benefit everyone because it only inhibits 60 ish % of DHT .

Ufff, it seems we don't understand each other, maybe language barrier or who knows... My point is that not all people that are balding are gonna end up fully bald, therefor you can't actually know if a man started balding and starting finasteride also at the same time, if after 10 years finasteride has maintained his hair or if his natural pattern was for him to bald until a certain point... Like for example, if i am Norwood 2 now, i could end up like my whole family and stay this way until 60+ and if i take finasteride and remain the same until then, nobody knows if finasteride actually helped my hair or if just my normal balding pattern was to get bald just until i get Norwood 2...

There are a lot of people in this world who develop a mature or very mature hairlines and they all remain the same until they die, i recently saw a study and a documentary about this things and they actually say that 99% of men don't retain their juvenile hairline and with age they develop a mature hairline even if they are not balding... And many could panic because of this, start treatments with finasteride and after 20 years think that finasteride has maintained their hairline or their hair in that stage, when in reality it would have stayed that way even without any treatments...

People bald in different patterns and not all get fully bald until they die and by starting treatments fast you will never now if finasteride will maintain it or if you would have maintained it without any treatments anyways....

No i get entirely what you're trying to say. But at the same time we can get a pretty good gauge from looking at family history and rate of hair loss before taking the drug, hair shedding before the drug etc to make a pretty good judgement on how effective the drug is from an individuals perspective. My hair before finasteride was f*****g dire and had i not taken it i would have coasted straight past the NW3 position i was in, along with the hundreds of hairs i was shedding daily.
