Can't Take Anymore, Quitting finasteride After 3 Years.

I'm 23 and have been on finasteride for around 3 years, I didn't realise at first but my sides have become terrible recently. I'm a frequent user of v****, I'm always tired at work and can't concentrate, my dick doesn't work. I tried to jack off before and i could hardly even get a boner, I'm at the end of my rope and i'm weening off it because I NEED to get better. I feel like crying.

I had a girl round the other night, took a v**** and had sex perfectly fine, then the morning after I tried to go again and I did her with a semi. I felt so pathetic..

I work in construction and its the tiredness that is really getting the better of me.. I know something inside my is missing, the fire, the motivation, the drive... Libido has suffered tremendously over the past few months, it's close to 0.

I've decided to ween off it starting from 0.25mg a day for around 20 days. I cant deal with this tiredness constantly, I'll never be able to have spontaneous sex, no aggression or passion in life. I feel like a walking body just doing mind numbing activites every day and just surviving. I cant handle any more. I will post progress of my recovery. Thanks for reading.

Please any recovering finasteride users give advice, or at least a ray of hope. Life feels difficult for me right now.

If you're 100% sure your problems are due to Finasteride you should probably quit. Just know that if you're depressed you can also get concentration problems and erectile dysfunction.

How is your current hair situation? Because if you decide to quit it will probably go downhill pretty soon.
A lot of guys seem to recover quite fast after they quit. I think it has a lot to do with your attitude about it. Try to be positive, talk to someone you trust if you feel bad. Try to eat clean and do some sporty stuff, you work in construction so maybe that's not necessary. Just aim for physical and mental well being.

I go to the gym 4-5x a week after work, eat alot of veg, fruit, meat, nuts etc. I'm certain its the finasteride, my penis simply doesn't respond.

edit: my hair looks great, it was already thinning and receded when i started but i'm certain its helped to a degree.

I'm also hitting the gym 4x a week. I don't work in construction but I can imagine combining those 2 can be extremely tiring. I've done too much training a couple times and it was so exhausting, I had to take a break to get my energy levels back up. (This was before I started finasteride myself)

What I'm training to say is, eliminate all possibilities that could be causing your problems. And be honest with yourself. If there is nothing left it's probably Finasteride.

Hey dude, if i were you, before you quit completely, why dont you try 1mg/3xaweek and see if it offers you some relief mentally and sexually. I cant take fine 7/7 days.. i find my weekends off offer some sort of relief in the sense that my sex drive is still intact and the fatigue doesnt kick in as heavy as it did when i was taking it 7/7. Worth a try imo before you let your hair go to sh*t. But you have all the right in the world to quit for good, all that pain is not worth it, as much as losing hair sucks. you cant destroy every other quality of life while maintaining your hairs. good luck with whatever you do man.

f*** man, i did the same. Finasteride started to doing something wrong with my body, the worst fell for me were these weak bones/muscle feeling and ultra tiredness after work. I am off 1 month and succesfully restored back.

I was defending finasteride mostly but hell, even if you're not noticing. Something might progressing.

thanks for the replies. I've been on .5mg for a couple of weeks every day prior, havnt seen any improvement. I think I will cut it down even more than I said initially to 0.25 / 2 days, I just used a kitchen knife to cut them into quarters so they are very rough measurements. I have also recently started taking 0.5mg of Zinc supplement a day to try and get my libido fired up again. I will be monitoring my progress in this thread.

Fak dat sh*t brah, i know ill lose ground for sure. But ill try to maintain only with Minoxidil 16%+ Topical finasteride, Topical Estradiol, Caffeine + Saw Palmetto + Keto shampo and maybe in next months 2,5g of RU in 60ml in generic minoxidil 5% (4% ru with 2,5g in 60ml) kirkland or another sh*t.

There are more stuff to try like Andenosine, this shitty nanoxidil, topical spironolactone, zinx, fluridil / flutamide and more more more...

Actually i am studying and doing some research about connection beetwen FGF5 and DHT.

I am too much active to get rid of dht in body. I will try to restart finasteride maybe in next half year with dose 0.5mg eod or something.

Still have many outs, if ill got depressed when my baldness would " go for it " Oral spironolactone+dutasteride. and NW0 Planet in half year. so :D

Iggy btw, whats about this magic BROTZU lotion? Seems you pushed out some lines about it in your signature.

And you switched to topical finasteride and no sides?

How is that possible?

I was on both. I dont think so topical works as oraly. Maybe it works but not with such good force like oraly. I am on topically for 4 months and i was combining with oral finasteride every day. I will go for bloodtests again soon so we will see if it "works" but when people asks me i always response with - " Dont know if it works " Answer.

My compounded topical finasteride from
My pharmacy did 0. I tried to switch from oral to topical but lost ground and had to get back on oral. My semen also became less watery on topical so I'd imagine it wasn't going system at all.

The blood test would be helpful supposed that you have a baseline to compare to. But I thought the only point in topical finasteride is to avoid systemic dht inhibition so if it "works" you should see: no change from baseline.

What is the concentration and vehicle for your topical finasteride? It just came with the minoxidil with regular eth/pg?

That's actually good to hear. But if it doesn't even work, well...

I remember reading somewhere topical finasteride is equally if not more efficient than oral. But most people think topical finasteride only works to the extent that it goes SYSTEMIC.

Just gonna leave this new study here: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle..._urol&uac=90007MX&spon=15&impID=1209180&faf=1

Come on guys, it has to be a little mental. For example, I decided to log onto this site yesterday cause I had free time and saw this thread. Then later on last night I was with a girl, was getting head, and literally could not finish. The mind is a powerful tool. I never had any sexual problems previously and don't plan on having them in the future.

Besides, my hair is looking so good I would never quit at least until something better comes out. My hair is too important to me. As of today, you can't win the battle without an antiandrogen.

Also, another interesting point I want to make is people on propeciahelp.com complaining about still having ED after quitting the drug and that the drug permanently caused this. How can these people be so stupid? If you stop the drug and still have ED, then it was not the drug that was causing it in the first place.

Wow you must really be oblivious to propecia sides lmao. I take finasteride and don't have too many complaints about it TBH, I was suspecting it may be the reason for me feeling tired a lot earlier in the day than usual but it's all speculation. On the sexual side front I've been lucky to be completely fine these past couple attempts at staying consistent with my regimen.

i still believe there's a sweet spot, different for each individual but likely there is one. I found mine at 3-4mgs a week, which means I take it 3-4 days out of 7. I usually shoot for 4 but sometimes I prefer to go without it. Whenever I tried taking finasteride 7/7 days I felt major fatigue and it was definitely the finasteride. Nowadays I almost forgot about that whole fatigue side completely lol.

Every individuals experience is clearly different, some can tolerate finasteride, some people's body's just don't cooperate with the drug. But I still think we can all find our individual dose where we can tolerate being on the drug.

Interesting. Fatigue is also the No. 1 reason I quit finasteride.

But I tried dosage as low as 0.1 mg EOD, still got fatigue. Actually whenever I take finasteride I get that fogged and blunted feeling (you probably know what I mean) right away. Within 30 minutes. Sometimes I'd think cutting the pills thus canceling its timed release might have something to do with that, but I think it's mostly me being hyper sensitive.

@g.i joey The point I was trying to make is sometimes (maybe even most of the time) the side effects are in your head. I don't have any side effects from finasteride and I've been taking it for over 2 years. I'm able to get hard no problem and I've been with many girls in the past 2 years.

I just hope if one of you guys decide to quit that you don't regret it. I mean, we wouldn't be on this forum if hair wasn't important to us.

Really? After one pill? I definitely know what you mean, when I first attempted finasteride I was doing 7/7 and woke up one morning sooo fkn tired I felt so out of it.. anyways fast forward to beginning of 2016 and I've been able to avoid that feeling by taking a day off every one or two days I'm on the drug. It's funny because when I first ever tried finasteride I got some pretty serious sides. Got off the drug got into better shape, take finasteride 3-4 times a week and have never encountered any of those problems again.

Yep. 1/8 of a pill to be precise.

So you were able to avoid the sides by improving overall health, exercising, etc?

I took finasteride for 7 years before and realized it was messing me up so hard in the last two years. I did feel that whenever I exercise frequently the sides alleviate, but overall I'd say my sides got worse along my timeline. In the last period right before I quit even exercising didn't help much though lol
