I'm using just Nizoral 2% right now, which has decreased my hair loss (I now don't find any hair on my pillow in the morning), but my hair loss in the shower (like when I work the nizoral into my hair) is still around 10 hairs (usually 8 miniaturized and 2 normal [which is slightly miniaturized on my head... I'm norwood 1 i guess]).

I think I want to move onto Proscar now, I have a good chinese doctor who usually does whatever I say so I'm confident that I'll get the prescription for sure, but I'm wondering about the side effects. I'm only 19 and just starting to get out of the skinny teenager stage (about 6' and just recently moved to heavier than 160lbs), but I'm worried about fat %s and stuff. Like my chest is flabbier than I want it to be, and some fat on my thighs and stomach and stuff are really starting to irritate me, like to the point where I might just stop putting on muscle and going all out cardio to burn it off, especially with some annoying fat nipples that look just plain bad when not erect.

If I go on the Proscar will this situation get worse? Will it be harder to put on muscle or what? Part of the reason I want to bulk up is because I really hate the look of a skinny bald guy, if I'm gonna be bald i wanna be huge. But would obviously rather not be bald.

Also does anyone know any good sources for Canada for proscar? I know I have to get a pill splitter thing from Walmart and cut the pills into fifths? Because its 5mg and I want 1mg right? I really want to get on this right away, because my hair is looking bad to me nowadays, like I'm getting to the point where I think about it all the time and I'm just wondering when someone is going to notice how thin its getting. I didn't realize myself until I got some pictures from college a couple of weeks ago from some friend, it was a shower thing that she sent me and I noticed how much more hair I had as recently as 6 months ago. I've also confirmed with someone else that I would look frigging weird without hair because of the shape of my head... right now I'm one of the best looking members of my race that I'm in contact with (The people who live in my area etc are all from one part of India, and I'm like cleanly in the top 5% best looking, but not without hair).

Uhm, dont count hairs.... 10/20/50 hairs means nothing if they keep growing back... and I wouldnt recommend using Proscar at your age... think about it... it's effective for about 5-10 years and then what? ... maybe technology has dramatically improved by then but then again maybe not... since you're only NWI I'd stick to Nizoral/MSM/multi-vit/folligen/... but no Finasteride yet!

I'd respectfully disagree with Hotlegs and say that Finasteride is best started soon after you notice you are suffering early stages of male pattern baldness. It can protect what you've got from the damage that DHT will inflict, but for most people, it can't grow it back to any really significant extent. The idea of "saving" Finasteride for later means you're deciding to sacrifice hair that you very well might keep if you protect it now (unless you're on some other treatment). Keeping hair you've got is ALWAYS easier than growing hair back.

There are a number of threads that discuss Finasteride and exercise. Search through all those for effect on your workout routine.

Yes, 1/5 of a Proscar pill would be the same dose as Propecia. But many people take 1/4 of a pill just because they're easier to cut into quarters than into fifths. It will make no difference to your treatment.

You ask where to get Proscar in Canada? Well, it sounds like you're getting a doctor's prescription for it. So you can shop around on major pharmacy websites (as well as your local brick-and-mortar pharmacies) for the best price. The issue of where to get a certain drug, and whether they'll ship to Canada, is more of a problem when you're trying to get something without a prescription.

I agree. Start with Finasteride as soon as you're sure that you're suffering from male pattern baldness. I wish I had.

.I definitly agree with Ropcat.. Im 19 too and been on finasteride. for 7 months. DONT wait to get on it man i wish i would have started it at 18. . there is no set time period that Propecia can hold your hair... some have been on it for 10 years with good success.. what you want to hold off on is minoxidil untill later times. hopefully in 7 years HM will be out or close to being perfected.

By the way i have had 0 sides on finasteride.
