Conflicting Biopsies? 2 Biopsies 1 Androgenetic Alopecia And 1 Aa

I had a biopsy that tested for Alopecia Areata---i present like typical FPHL so my Dr did a second biopsy that came back for Androgenic Alopecia.

These were taken 2 weeks apart in same area of my scalp about 1 inch apart.

I'm not sure which to believe i am just curious if anyone had this experience?

I spoke with Dermatologist today she spoke with the pathologist who re examined both of my biopsy slides.

he said to her something like he was 'over zealous' in saying i had AA due to some inflammation.

I 'want' to believe this because as sucky as Androgenetic Alopecia is and as mild as a lot of AA is--if i have AA its defuse and not a good sign i think.

Im unsure now if i take this pathologist and DR at there word

or start over somewhere else for new diagnosis and pathology.

I have no physical symptoms of AA...unless its 'chronic defuse alopecia areta' which is very rare--so rare i only found it in one text book.

I just dont understand how i have 'inflammation' in lychocytes at the base of my catagen hair but its not AA..

Does Androgenetic Alopecia ever have inflammation in follicle?

Most people with androgenetic alopecia have inflammation in follicle.

androgenic alopecia, early

microscopic description
there are a diminished number of hair follicles in anlagen
an increased number catagen and telegen
and some hair follicles are thin
there is a scant inflammatory cell infiltrate

I'm going to Columbia University Hospital on Monday to see a dermatologist who works a lot with the researcher Christiano.
This dermatologist is also a researcher as well as a general dermatologist who specializes in alopecia.

Thank you. Im trying to be strong.
i am always persistent with Drs..I am also trying to get in to see Dr Costarellis but this will take a while my dermatologist has been contacting his office for me. Mostly I want to see him because he did a few studies on women with hair loss that keep getting quoted but now i am also intrigued to learn more about the neogenesis if i do in deed have Androgenetic Alopecia.

Okay so this Doctor i saw today believes strongly i have Androgenic and NO AA.

She explained a lot regarding biopsies and it mostly went over my head..but she assured me i dont have AA.

so back to fighting Androgenetic Alopecia.

That was my feeling.....

In one way better, because AA point out to a desregulation of inmmune system, and it is a great health problem, but it is reversible, thing that is very difficult with androgenetic alopecia.

My advice is try to stop the process, ... regain hair lost is only a plus.
