So, for a few years prior to treating my hair for male pattern baldness I shaved my head and never had an issue with dry scalp. Now I have itchy/dry scalp like crazy ever since I've been using minoxidil and especially now that my hair is pretty much almost fully filled in and growing. What can I do about this? I use nizoral 2-3 times a week, and head & shoulders every other day that I don't use nizoral. I've tried selsun blue as well. Nothing seems to work and I'm starting to get self conscious about it tbh. I'm always afraid to mess with my hair when I know I can't access a mirror for a while for fear of causing flakes to appear.

FWIW I never had an issue with dandruff prior to my hair loss. Taking estrogen has really dried out my skin overall (moisturizing is a necessity now) and I fear that may be part of the issue. Sooo what can I do? I was thinking of cutting out shampooing altogether since I've heard some people have had success by going the nopoo route but I really like the way shampoo makes my hair smell so I'd prefer not to do that if anyone has any other ideas..

Na that's not dandruff, that's minoxidil. When the minoxidil dries it becomes white flakes. minoxidil can also create an itch.

How much minoxidil do you use for each application? For the itch, I would get some 1 or 2 percent nizoral. Or Regenepure Dr. That should help.

I don't think so unless minoxidil stays in my hair after I wash it. I apply minoxidil, wait my 4 hours, then shower (where I wash my hair with either nizoral or head & shoulders) and when I get out I still have flakes.

aren't there like anti-dandruff shampoos... like I seriously think that'd be the most convenient route to go

Yeah that's what nizoral and head & shoulders do, did you read the OP? I tried shampoos already

Try a tea tree oil conditioner.

or pure jojoba oil as a lotion,..., but don't mix with minoxidil aplication.
PJO is antiinflammatory and helps you with itchy scalp.

Will look into both of these options, thanks.

Try apple cider vinegar. I tried everything for my dandruff, and the only thing that helped was a mixture of half water and half apple cider vinegar.
