Dilemma

Ladies and gents, this is my second time posting - I've searched and cannot find my answer.

I've been balding for over 5 years now to a point where I am Norwood 4a. As a result, I have been shaving my head for 2 years.

As time passes, the top of my head is getting shinier and shinier. I think its getting pretty obvious that I'm balding.

My dilemma is that I realllyyyyyy want to get a hair piece (professionally done initially). However, I don't know how to make the transition from being completely shaven to having nice hair..

Do any of you have the same issue? Does anyone have a solution, or advice??

PLEASE help! When a solution is found and I finally get my replacement, I will be an even more active member of this board...I guarantee it (I'm very active on unrelated forum boards)...

Thanks in advance.

you can use some concelears such as nanogen, prothick, dermatch to thincken a bit the hair on top or to give the idea that your hair is doing better and then you can make the transition...or you can wear a hat while your side and back hair grows.

I'd say just make the change abruptly. People will notice, but so what? I think it's better for hairpiece wearers not to keep that fact a secret -- you'll be far less prone to embarrassment if others know you're not trying to hide anything.

Thanks!

Right now I shave my whole head. I'm 26 years old, and my last resort is to make it obvious (thus why I'm getting a piece in the first place - I don't like my bald head).

Right now, I'm wearing hats to one of my offices...my plan is to keep wearing the hat even after I've gotten the piece for a couple of weeks to ease the transition a bit more.

Question on an unrelated topic...now, I've read the forums for this answer already, but get different responses. I work out a lot at the gym and go running. Some people say that they take their piece off before, then wear a ahat to the gym, and others say they wear the piece, but wear a hat on top of that.

What do you find the best way to go about with your intense physical activity, if you are a wearer?

Thanks again.

btw - I'm seriously considering 'New Roots' studio here in T.O...there is also another place called Alexis Hair studio that a friend recommended (they offer 'Permagraft' and Non Surgical...let me know if you know the diff). Any places you recommend?

- - - Updated - - -

Right now I'm diong the whole hat thing, but waiting for my hair to grow out...its going to take me 3-4 weeks for sides/back to grow out cuz I was completely shaved.

w.r.t Nanogen, Prothick, etc,...I'm afraid I'm too bald for that...I do have a little bit of hair on top, but by no means enough to have nanofibres attach themselves. Here is a pic to give you an idea.

Pic #1 - sorry for the bad quality, but to give you a sense, this is what my front looks like.

Pic #2 - extends to the crown of my head. Also, notice my sides and back are growing out...its been 6 days since I shaved my head completely with a razor.

Once I put on a piece, I will do before/afters. IMG-20120727-00226.jpgIMG-20120727-00227.jpg

Hi Mate, I can't comment on the places you have mentioned, but I think it is a good idea to go to a professional to kick things off. I am a runner and run between 4-5 times a week. I have a lace system with poly around the back and the sides. I use tape on the poly as I think this gives the most secure hold. I use glue on the hairline as I think this given the most natural appearance, however some glue can turn white if you sweat heavily. To be on the safe side I reglue the hairline after i run (and I've cooled down). I remove the entire piece once a week. I hope this helps. if you have anymore question please feel free to ask.
