Does everybody Shed?

Does everyone who takes finasteride experience shedding? Or is it just for those who have already lost a significant amount of hair and had a significant amount of hairline recession?

I ask this because my hairloss is minimal but still existent. I'm a NW0 but I believe that I'm transitioning towards NW1. I just want to take finasteride to prevent my hair density and hairline from going but I'm afraid of the shedding process.

So will I experience shedding if my hairline is still pretty good?

I never experience shedding with finasteride or otherwise unless I am using certain harsh shampoos (in which case I get tons), but I still have diffuse frontal thinning. I've pretty much maintained what I've had at NW1.5 for the past 3 years, starting 19, using just Nizoral. Unless you have balding genes on your mother's side, finasteride may be overkill. I was one of those who experienced severe finasteride sides so I'd make a very informed decision if I were you.

But yeah, no shed. Keep in mind shedding isn't the same thing as balding; balding is hair follicle dormancy or death whereas shedding is just the hair falling out.

I have been on finasteride for the past 2 months. Initially the hair loss was seized but after that 2 months mark, its been worse than before. Not sure if i'll get those lost hairs back. I will have to wait and hope for the best.

There are a lot of balding guys who don't want to risk it with Finasteride and you're not even sure about hairloss and want to take it? Why don't you just use a ketoconozole shampoo and take pictures of your hair every now and then to see if its starting to fall out.

I've been on finasteride for about 2 1/2 months now and my experience has been very similar to avinash.crayappa.. (minimal shed for the first 2-3 weeks and it has picked up again like crazy since the last 3 weeks)
