I'm turning 21 this year and i can't tell if i'm going bald or if its just part of maturing. My hairline doesn't seem to be moving back at the crown but the density of my hair seems to have plummeted to the point where if i'm looking at a mirror with a light above my head, i can see a lot of my scalp easily. I'll post some pics in the thread but it looks worse on camera than it really is.

But just broadly does everyone's hair get thinner after puberty?

If your whole head has thinned, best to see a dermatologist. They can diagnose if its telogen effluvium or male pattern baldness

The most important cause of hair loss is a hormone called 'DHT'. DHT binds with hair follicles and is thought to prevent nutrients from reaching and feeding the hair. Some researchers also theorise that DHT may cause the body to treat hair as a "foreign body".

In order to treat hair loss caused by DHT, sufferers can use medication such as Propecia, which reduces DHT production in the body. There are also topical treatments, which may block DHT in the scalp, but the effectiveness of these treatments is unknown.
