Hi,

Simple question.. as I've got different opinions from different people.

DOES PROPECIA CAUSE (in some people) INFLAMMATION/IRRITATION/ AND/OR ITCHING ?

I assume it does, otherwise they wouldn't have used Nizoral during the FDA trials/studies... but I could be wrong.

I am about to start my 4th month, and I get random itching during the day, different parts of my scalp.. I usually ignore it and it goes away, but sometimes I have to run the comb through for a nice scratch !

Propecia cannot cause inflammation unless you're allergic to Finasteride.

They did not use Nizoral during the FDA trials. They used T/Gel.

Excessive scratching today can injure the skin & cause more itch tomorrow. Use a soothing conditioner instead.

Ah yes T-Gel, my mistake..

Well, if it's not the Propecia that's giving me this itchiness, then it's gotta be the Folligen... cause I didn't have this before I started taking Propecia.

No side effects, just random itchy head.

More then likely it is the Nizoral, I know I use T-Sal and my irritation stopped, I use nizoral still but leave I do not leave it on nearly as long. I stopped using nizoral for a while to see if that was it, and for me it was the cause of my irritation. Def get a good conditioner.

No, I think the Nizoral makes my scalp feel better... I leave it on for about 3 - 4 minutes...

I need a good conditioner right now I'm using the emu type, and it's not doing what I wish it would... I need a good hydrating/moisturizing cond.

However, I'm still skeptical about Propecia.. I think it's causing an inflammation on my scalp... enough for random itching through the day.. I still could be wrong, but like I said, I've heard different opinions...

What up Main!

I had the same problem, during the day I would get random itchiiiiiiiiii spots on my scalp. I was using Nizoral 2 times a week and T-Sal. Which didnt seem to stop the problem.

I then went out and bought some H&S shampoo and started using Nizoral every 2 days. So Sat, skip Sunday and Monday....use it Tuesday. Of course I used the H&S in between. I make sure to keep both of them on my scalp for about 5 minutes and then rinse with cool water.

This seems to have helped my itching. Its not as intense as it once was.

Well, I hope this helps some...

Take Care,

Um I use the neutrogena T-Sal, it is a clear bottle with red lettering. It has the 3% saclylic acid in it. I think it def helps out.

I am starting only my 4th month on Propecia.

I had no itching before I started it... and added Folligen.

So the culprit for my itching is one of the two.

I'm going to stop Folligen for awhile and see how it goes with the itchiness...

I still am unsure though, if Propecia is known to cause itchy scalp on some guys..
