Asking because I have an unsually large amount of body hair and wondering if finasteride plays a role.

I also have borderline high testosterone, not sure how finasteride ties in with that.

I've been on it since March and hair on my leg, just above my ankles, is noticably thinning. Especially on the left leg. I don't know for sure if that's due to finasteride though.

Nothing for the hair on my head though.

The gene for male-pattern body hair is HHA7. There's a little palindrome of DNA (AGAACA) called an Androgen Response Element! (ARE.) Each AR has a single arm on it, which latches onto only that palindrome. With both their arms, they clamp down on the ARE and snap tight. The AR's other head is a handle for RNA polymerase, which kicks off making the gene south of the ARE into a protein. The AR flips a switch, the HHA7 keratin is made, and if ur genes said body hair, then you will have body hair.

The strength of your HHA7 keratin determines how much body hair you have genetically speaking. By increasing androgenic activity in the body, this gene will become more present and by decreasing androgenic activity, this gene becomes less present. Since you are taking finasteride, and finasteride reduces PSA (the biological marker of androgenic activity in the body)androgen dependent genes such as the gene for body hair( HHA7) become less present. So yes, finasteride has the ability to reduce body hair.

Definitely decrease. My body hair has thinned out considerably. At this rate, I will have no chest hair real soon.
