I wouldn't give a sh*t if it did.

You may regrow hair but you will rapidly age, lose weight, get massive scabs and lesions on your face and generally make you look horrendously disgusting.

I don't ask this question as to whether to do meth to regrow hair.

This is deeper. If it does in fact regrow hair it would shed some more clues as to the mysteries of hair loss and regrowth.

Perhaps it's some property of the meth that can be obtained in another format.

yes that would be an interesting trade off. I mean those side effects are all terrible and all, but I mean.... if it did grow hair.. hmmmm... :ideias:

I know a girl who was a speed freek and at one point her hair was coming out in massive clumps. I think the dudes longer hair is covering his recession.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure amphetamines are actually responsible for increased hair loss. Not male pattern baldness, just random thinning / baldness.

uh huh, my hair feels like shite upto a week after a heavy base nite

I actually discussed this with one of my mates recently; we decided it came to down to:

* tweakers dont eat proper food, if they eat at all (thus worse for hair)

* dont sleep, always bad for hair

* dont wash... again bad

* fidgety nervous actions, such as pulling hair out.. obv doesnt help

* sweating a lot, means hair becomes dirtier, coupled with not washing..

I don't know about meth, but I was a heavy heroin/cocaine user for about 6 months and my thinning got dramatically worse during that time.

yeah it has amphetamines in it, which are often linked to hairloss. I love cocaine. I love it. I will never do it again because of my hair. I guess that's one way to get clean, hehe.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.

Methamphetamine obviously regrows hair. Just look at the pictures.

In fact, I'll go as far as to say that all illicit substances grow hair, except pot, which makes you fat, stupid, and bald.

Why does everything fun have to have a negative catch to it. I do notice that lately I'm shedding a lot when I play with my hair, but I haven't really attributed this to MDMA use. I haven't used in a few weeks now, but was using quite steadily for about 3 weeks. Not sure if the shedding is linked to this.

Probably is. No way to tell though. Just stay away from that sh*t.

Can I just point out that what ever you put in your body or on your scalp will not have a direct effect on your hair until around 3 months afterwards.

So, Deaner, if you check your hair in around 3 months time and it looks like sh*t, it could be to do with the MDMA.

Anyone that thinks they shed loads after a heavy session on some Class 'A' is either imagining it or its a total coincidence.

I don't know enough about meth, but I've heard the same argument discusses on other boards. It's possible there is some property that can stimulate growth; nothing surprises me. The question, though, is finding out exactly what that property is.

You obviously can't make a generalization about meth regrowing hair, because it isn't true in every case. Still, it's an interesting phenomenon, on par with cyclosporine apparently regrowing hair. It's been theorized that the immune system is the mechanism by which hairs are miniaturized, based on the side-effects of some immune-suppressing drugs. Based on some study I read (which I can't link because the search feature of hairlosshelp.com is apparenty disabled at the moment) I don't think it's as simple as the immune system being responsible for male pattern baldness, but who knows?

I know this thread isn't about immune-suppressors, but in some ways cyclosporine's effectiveness on hair regrowth does correlate to the idea presented in this thread that meth might have some benefit to hair. It probably does have a positive effect in some way, but not in the way it might appear. I don't think we can comprehend all the different aspects of drugs unless we could isolate the different elements, and given my very narrow understanding of biology/chemistry, I have no idea if that's even possible (though anyone with knowledge on the subject, feel free to let us know).

Good post; it brings up some interesting questions.
